The US democracy has fallen in depth regarding peoples trust in the federal government. In the recent years, civic engagement have dramatically decreased among US citizens. As an individualist culture along with the inhabited busy lifestyle of the American society, the lack of civic engagement isn't surprising. Many people within the nation , especially the young, have lost confidence in the democratic system. A sense of distrust towards major institutions and between their fellow citizens. However, the lack of civic learning and the persistence of the distorted media caused a diverge gap between the American government and its citizens.

The lack of civic knowledge and engagement in the American society is one of the causes that led to the distrust in the democratic system.' Individuals in our society who do not possess the levels of skill, literacy, and training essential to this new era will be effectively disenfranchised, not simply from the material rewards that accompany competent performance, but also from the chance to participate fully in our national life'

The ongoing news media distortion have misled the public discourse into inevitable loop of problems, both domestically and internationally. The malicious way of how the media outlets propose problems to the public can be illustrated as treating the sick with sickness or pouring oil on fire. A form of resolving problems with a future probable problems. A way to push the public audience into a complicated dimension. This kind of act diminishes the credibility of a source, and could also manipulate people in regards of what to believe and what not to believe, and surely it will push civics into abundance. According Peter Levine and Kei Kawashima-Ginsberg "young people are increasingly empowered to influence the topics and stories that are widely shared. At the same time, they are deluged with unreliable information and actual propaganda, and research shows that most young people perform poorly at distinguishing fake news from reliable news."(2017). Given that, civic learning is a crucial factor in distinguishing true and fake news.

The consequences of the decreased engagement in civic learning and media literacy have led to a decline in civil and social duties. Especially with the increasing portion of conflicts between political parties, as people started to dislike others who do not support the same party.(2017) As there was no constitution
