Instruction and Rubic

Based on the material you have learned this semester, now it YOUR turn to put together a competency-based training. You may use materials developed throughout the semester.  You will select two skills to teach and complete a competency training using Appendices A and B as from Chapter 5 in LeBlanc, Sellers, & Ala'i as templates. Your training procedure should include all the components of BST.

Develop a PowerPoint presentation discussing the each of the different components of your competency-based training (e.g., setting, participants, method/procedure including all of the materials that you developed for the training, how you will approach each component of BST, etc.).  Hypothetical results and a discussion section are  NOT required.

The following components are required for your presentation

- Setting, Participants, Target Skills

- Rationale for completing competency based training

- Performance Feedback

- Assessing Competency (Leblanc Chapter 5 Appendix B)

- Description of BST Components

- Ethical Considerations

- Tracking Competencies - Generalization and Maintenance

- Find and include 3 additional references that were not included in the course.

- During your presentation:  Explain the rationale for doing a competency-based training (e.g., what has the research shown) and  describe each of the components that you have included.

- Your presentation should be at least 10 minutes in length. Points will be deducted for presentations that are shorter than 10 minutes in length.

The verbal/written pre- and post-test is described fully (e.g., what is it and why is it important, how/when will it be administered, how are data collected). The test/form is also shown and explained thoroughly. This will require that you replicate Appendix B (Leblanc Chapter 5) with an assessment of competency specific to the target skill selected.
