European imperialism is the term used to conquer Europeans on territories outside

Europe. Europe's imperialism stayed for over five centuries. Still, the 19th century was the most

important and critical one because it helped Europeans make wonderful successes and conquer

many territories outside. Many factors were responsible for European imperialism in the 19th

century, and it was essential to consider that the industrial revolution was the most important

reason behind it. Europe made a lot of revolutions in the century that helped it cover a lot of

areas.

European imperialism is based on the standard treaty, and as far as the treaties are

concerned, they remained important in history from the 17th century. Imperialism lasted five

centuries, but the treaties did not remain effective throughout the era. The involved parties used

to have problems with the treaties, and it was important for the people of Europe to look for

ways that may help them to improve their economic and social structure. Imperialism was

necessary for Europe because they wanted to expand the land and the government. For this

reason, it was important for Europeans to work on the standard treaty.

Europeans’ motives

There were essential motives of Europeans in the imperialism and standard treaty-related

work. Economic, strategic, religious, and political were the important motives of Europe for

which imperialism was introduced. Europeans wanted to connect the whole world through

interaction and strengthen their economy. The conquest and conquering of other territories were

necessary because Europe expected to get beneficial lands where the economy could become

strong. Business and innovation can be given a new direction, so it was important for Europeans

to strengthen the economy. It was also the strategy of Europe because it was found that the

people were anxious to expand their business, culture, and tradition. So, imperialism was

necessary to interact with different cultures and to meet various people1. It was also important for

Europe to expand its religions because there were different religions outside Europe. The

interaction with the others allowed them to meet people from different religions. They can get

the advantage of cultural interaction, which can help them in globalization. Europeans started the

expansion towards political influence because political stability was needed. The political parties

were involved in the expansion of Europe, and it was found that the imperialism and standard

treaty played a great and influential role in it. These were the motives of Europeans, and they

were necessary to elaborate on because the standard treaty was based on them. The people

believed these factors were essential and were needed for the expansion.

Objectives and justifications

The objective and justifications come in the same headings because it was found that the

Europeans had economic growth in their mind. The justification was made to people in the

standard treaty that imperialism was necessary because Europe wanted to make the economy

strong. It was impossible with the current territorial areas, but Europeans had to interact with the

other people. Europeans had to globalize the business, and it was necessary to make things

clear2. It was essential to show that economic strength could not be made until Europeans came

out of a specific domain. The international market was not introduced at that time, and Europe

wanted to invade the other markets as well because it needed to have cheaper goods. Europe

wanted to introduce cheap labor by giving them opportunities for others to come and serve them.

European trade was not successful and progressive before 19th-century imperialism, so the

decision was made to expand the government and conquest to get cheaper things. Another

justification was that the industrial revolution was started, and there were a lot of inventions.

Economic discoveries existed, so the other countries and regions must also be included. It was

important for that region's people to understand its objectives and justifications3.

Reaction of natives

Imperialism was not new to the public, but it was something ancient that people were

already familiar with. It involved five centuries, but the 19th century was different because of

several factors. The expansion was done by trade, and the conquest was taken in the different

territories. The native people of those specific regions were not happy because it was their land,

and they wanted to rule by themselves. They did not want to merge in Europe, but time was a

great healer. With time, it was proved that imperialism played a significant role in the lives of

natives, and the situation became comforting for the natives. The cultures interacted with one

another, and it was found that the people were from distinct backgrounds, but they adapted to

each other's traditions and culture4.

Strengths and weaknesses of arguments

The arguments have been presented in the documents and have strengths based on the

above information. It was found that the information was necessary to understand the standard

treaty and nineteenth-century imperialism. Imperialism was because by several causes, which

have already been explained. The cultures were merged, and the people interacted for a better

life. There are also specific weaknesses in the documents that are necessary to mention. The

weaknesses of the paper showed that the people of the conquered areas were not discussed

adequately. Though unhappy and unsatisfied, they had the right to save their regions and

territory5. The efforts made by Europeans to convince them and to sign the treaty were not

mentioned. The weakness was also to justify all the actions of imperialism. There are a lot of

authors who have taken it critically and focused on weaknesses as well (Bonnie G. Smith 2018).

Conclusion

It is concluded that European imperialism was the need of that time. Four major

objectives have already been defined. The economic and political factors were strong enough

that imperialism took place. It expanded Europe and gave rise to industrialization. It connected

people from different regions, and globalization was promoted. Imperialism has both positive

and negative impacts, leading Europe to become a significant but progressive continent.
