Topic: Contributions that ethnic food market in America

Working title: Contributions of Chinese markets in American

Working thesis: Chinese markets play a vital role in Philadelphia, especially in Chinatown.

Body Paragraph 1:

Topic sentence: Chinese supermarkets provide convenience to Chinese immigrants to buy Chinese food and offer many job opportunities.

In Min Zhou’s article, “Chinatown the socioeconomic potential of an urban enclave” we finally made it to the Gold Mountain, and we are here to stay.” These words express the new attitude of many Chinese immigrants, who now seek a home and a better life in the United State rather than “gold” and a return home to their land of origin.

Many Chinese new immigrants come to the United State to earn money these years, but they cannot speak English. Not only can Chinese supermarkets provide convenience to these Chinese immigrants to buy daily necessities but also provide many job opportunities to these people.

In my interview, William said Chinese markets help new immigrants to adapt the new environment easily, new Chinese immigrants in American could find familiar products, people, food in Chinatown.

Body Paragraph 2:

Topic sentence: The products in Chinese supermarkets are different from things in American markets.

In Stefan Zajic’s article”Why You Should Shop at Ethnic Grocery Stores” he talks about many benefits that shopping at ethnic grocery stores. “The prices are rock bottom, the selection is amazing, and the food quality is equal to or higher than any other major, regular-priced supermarket I’ve tried.”

People here can find new foods, new combinations of food and save money.

In my interview David said “It is different from American markets, I can buy special ingredients from China. I usually cook by myself, so I go to Chinese supermarket in Chinatown once a week.”

Body Paragraph 3:

Topic sentence: Chinese supermarkets help American to know about Chinese culture.

In John Aubrey Young’s article, “ more American know Chinese culture through buying Chinese food in Chinatown.”

In my interview, William said “In American, there are many ethnic markets. Chinatown is a good place for American to know Chinese culture.”

Conclusion:

Ethnic markets make American markets more diversity and provide convenience for immigrants.
