After looking at the organization’s current learning and development program and communication system, I have found out that new changes are needed to improve its effectiveness and performance. The banking sector has many organizations that compete against each other aggressively. A banking organization must have competent and highly trained employees that give it a competitive advantage in the industry. Leaders should be able to inspire and motivate workers to ensure they perform tasks according to the organization’s standards. This report analyzes the effectiveness of the leadership and development program and provides recommendations.
Currently, the leadership and development program in the organization does not provide opportunities for all workers to enhance their skills and knowledge. The employees are not motivated to build and develop their capacity. Besides, the organization does not provide promotion opportunities to all individuals. As a result, people are reluctant to join the leadership and development program. Additionally, the application should be able to equip leaders with change management skills. For effective change management, the managers must communicate clearly about the new systems. When employees have the right information, they develop positive attitudes and perceptions towards change. As a result, they become ready to support the latest changes.
An effective communication system is required in organizations to facilitate the speedy transfer of information between management and employees. The organization utilizes a mail communications system. Communication lapses are frequent where there is a failure in internet connectivity. Besides, some of the workers lack smartphones, which make it challenging to communicate with them using the mail system. Thus, there is a need to create a reliable communication system to ensure employees can consult among themselves when they face problems in the workplace. An effective communication system also provides a suitable way for managers to communicate their directions and instructions to workers (Shaw, n.d.). When employees face challenges, they can quickly seek clarifications from their leaders. The system will also facilitate the communication of change to employees. The managers have a responsibility to communicate the change to all workers clearly and concisely. Workers are essential stakeholders to the organizations who are involved in the implementation of change. Effective communication prepares employees for change. All the stakeholders in the organization acquire accurate information that enhances their knowledge.
From the problems outlined above, it is recommendable that the organization should develop a suitable leadership and development program and an effective communication system. Workers and managers should engage in continuous learning to enhance their competence and knowledge. The leadership program should be designed to improve the effectiveness, performance, and impact of managers. The organization should consider developing an online application that equips with managers with new knowledge. The online leadership program ensures flexibility so that individuals can learn in their free time and place of convenience.
Moreover, the organization must offer promotion through a fair and competitive process. When all individuals have equal opportunities for advancement, they will be motivated to enroll in the learning and development program. An effective communication system is needed to prepare managers and workers for change. The readiness for change is influenced by the workers' attitudes, opportunities, and skills (Cunningham, 2002). Through proper communication, workers and managers understand the importance of the leadership and development program. The communication system will ensure individuals obtain accurate, timely, and organized information.
Apart from mail communication, the organization should use monthly conferences and social media. During the meetings, employees and managers engage each other and discuss issues of concern in the workplace. Banking organizations have complex processes and procedures that workers must understand to deliver better performance. The conferences will offer employees opportunities to highlight problems and become part of creating solutions. They express their views and perceptions that lead to the analysis of different courses of action. Besides, employees can communicate with each other using social media. Facebook allows users to post and share information online. Thus, workers can create Facebook groups that facilitate the sharing of knowledge.
In conclusion, after a careful examination of the banking organization, problems with the leadership and development program and communication systems have been outlined. The current leadership program does not prepare workers and managers adequately to obtain promotion opportunities. The organization should strengthen this leadership program to ensure more workers and managers build their capacity and competency. The organization also requires an effective communication system to provide a smooth transfer of information in the workplace.
However, to implement these systems, the organization must prepare employees and leaders for change. When the stakeholders have accurate information, they efficiently perform their tasks, leading to better performance.
