Criteria to Evaluate Alignment of Research Component

Various factors are used to determine alignment between the research methodology and other relevant components, such as the problem statement and research questions. Examples include reliability, validity, and ethical considerations. Reliability is used to assess the degree to which the selected data collection and analysis techniques can provide stable and consistent results (Cohen et al., 2017). In an ideal study, all the components, including the research question, should augment the project's reliability. Conversely, validity focuses on the extent to which the project's outcomes are accurate (Clark & Watson, 2019). Inaccuracy in components such as the research problem or hypotheses could undermine the study’s alignment. Ethical considerations, including confidentiality and anonymity, also form part of the criteria used to assess alignment in research (Arifin, 2018; Walford, 2018). Each section of the study should be presented in a manner that addresses ethical issues. All these factors help researchers to produce work of high scholarly quality.

Agent of Positive Social Change

As a scholar-practitioner, my knowledge and skills regarding research have strengthened my resolve to become an agent of positive social change. Indeed, I have learned how researchers can use their roles to impact individuals and communities positively. More than just collecting and analyzing data, researchers should strive to conduct projects that benefit individuals and communities (Morales‐Doyle, 2017). Such efforts involve identifying issues that require additional research and creating more knowledge to offer solutions that can be used to address these problems (Weible et al., 2020). For example, researchers could conduct studies to determine underlying factors that contribute to truancy among students. The findings of such projects could offer valuable insights that policymakers could utilize to implement reforms to combat student truancy. Consequently, the researchers would have benefitted multiple stakeholders, including students, their families, and educators. Having acquired these competencies, I intend to use my position as a researcher to advocate for change to impact society positively.
