Blog: Week 6: Sharing Your Language and Literacy Development Journey with Your Community of Practice

In Week 3 you started your Assignment titled A Language and Literacy Development Journey. You now share two sections of your project with your colleagues. You also elicit help on any parts with which you may be having trouble. For example, you might say, “I’m writing about a child named Pierre who lives in France. One of his parents is deaf. What factors might I have missed or should I consider?”

When sharing sections from your project, you are strongly encouraged to select a stage with which you are having the most difficulty. If you are creating a podcast, you will post the script for your selected stage. All documents must be in Microsoft Word so that your colleagues can provide feedback using the program’s Comment feature and/or by highlighting their feedback throughout.

To prepare

Reflect on your Assignment progress and consider questions about which you would like colleague feedback. In addition to the Introduction section of your project, select another section to share with your colleagues.

Assignment Blog Writing (Part 1)

Write the following in your Blog:

Describe your language and literacy development journey. Identify question(s) with which you would like your colleagues’ help. In addition, point out any area(s) of your paper or podcast on which you would like specific feedback. Then, attach your paper or script (your Introduction plus one section of your choice) to your blog posting.

Assignment Blog Writing (Part 2)

Read a selection of your colleagues’ postings. (I will post 2 colleagues postings)

Respond to two or more of your colleagues’ postings in one or more of the following ways:

Offering specific feedback, insights, and/or resources that address your colleagues’ questions and that will assist them in further developing the content for their Assignment paper or podcast.

Returning the document they have provided, with your comments and feedback throughout.
