DQ1.
Preparing for Client Meeting: Leadership Communication
Conduct independent research on professional communication and feedback. Then provide a short synopsis of three new insights you plan to integrate into your client feedback meeting. The client meeting can take place in person, via web conference, or on the phone. Include a minimum of two credible sources.
Reflection on Readings
Describe two new concepts or ideas from this unit's readings that were intriguing or professionally meaningful to you, and explain why you chose them.
Learning Components
This activity will help you achieve the following learning components:
· Apply effective, professional communication strategies.
· Identify relevant and authoritative sources of data and information.
DQ2.
Proposal Outcome and Feedback
Follow the following steps after you have incorporated feedback from your instructor on your Unit 3 assignment project proposal:
· Contact the prospective client organization to set up a meeting. Meet and present the project proposal at the agreed upon time. Ensure that your client signs a copy of your proposal.
· Describe the outcome of the meeting. Summarize the feedback offered by your client, and include any substantive, relevant details for clarification.
· Discuss any gaps or additional requests from the client. Explain how you will address those gaps or requests with regard to the scope of this course and the time frame for the project.
· Provide a brief description of what type of data you will be examining, what performance indicators you are examining, and how you are measuring each performance indicator. In addition, include a brief description on how you will display your data (for example, pie chart, graph, spreadsheet, and process map).
Your goal is to meet the requirements of your capstone project while working with the client to comply with any additional requests not covered in the proposal you presented.
Initial Post Guidelines
Your initial post should include a signed copy of the proposal presented to the client, with a short, bulleted list of categorical feedback, including additional considerations conveyed by your client. Scan the entire proposal document and attach the file in the discussion area. Include a short, updated statement of what performance indicators you are examining, how you are measuring each performance indicator, and how you will display your data. These items should now be incorporated into the project proposal. Feel free to add each as an addendum, if needed.
For this discussion, it is acceptable to post a Word document.
Learning Components
This activity will help you achieve the following learning components:
· Apply effective, professional communication strategies.
· Write clearly and concisely for a specific purpose and audience.
· Identify relevant performance indicators and performance measurement units.
· Identify appropriate structures (pie chart, graph, or spreadsheet) for the visual display of specific data.
DQ3.
Client-Approved Proposal and Balanced Scorecard Application
Post your revised, client-approved data review project proposal, and include an application of the balanced scorecard into your data review project working document. Apply the balanced scorecard model to your project within the Performance Measurement section of the proposal.
· You must state the organizational vision, mission, directional strategy, and how the data review project addresses all four facets of the balanced scorecard model. In other words, you must consider the client organization from a systems perspective and determine the impact of your project upon the four perspectives within the balanced scorecard framework (business operations, finance, customer service, and organizational learning and growth).
· This is a great exercise because it helps you to articulate the potential impact of your proposed project in a concise and measurable manner. You are demonstrating the impact of your data review project (for example, establishing a baseline for development of internal benchmarks on improving the billing processes due to a new regulatory requirement). Applying the balanced scorecard will help to project measurable future targeted outcomes for the organization. Please refer to the balanced scorecard example linked in the Resources.
State how your project will address or add value in each of the four areas: business operations, finance, customer service, and organizational learning and growth.
Also within the Performance Measurement section of your project proposal, provide a structure for display of summarized raw data. This structure will be used to summarize or group the data you are examining. Although you are just beginning to collect data, you will want to consider how to display it visually. Examples of data display structures are as follows:
· A pie chart with a title, "wedges" of the pie labeled to reflect performance indicators being measured, and a time frame.
· A graph with a specific title, X and Y axes labeled (performance indicator being measured and unit of measurement), and a time frame.
· A spreadsheet with a specific title, columns, and rows labeled, and a time frame.
· A process map with a specific title, steps labeled, prospective variance intervals labeled, and a time frame.
Learning Components
This activity will help you achieve the following learning components:
· Identify an organization's vision, mission, culture, and strategic goals.
· Apply the balanced scorecard model to a performance improvement initiative.
· Identify appropriate structures (pie chart, graph, or spreadsheet) for the visual display of specific data.
· Construct a visual data display.

DQ4..
Proposed Structure for Raw Data Display
Consider your research on your selected problem. For this discussion:
· Include your four sentence topic descriptions.
· Update and include any revisions in your performance indicators and associated measures.
· Post your final minimum of two proposed visual data summaries.
· Remember to include a title with an organization name, topic, and year.
· Be sure to label the performance indicators under measurement and the associated units. These will be the final data display formats for your report.
Reflection on Readings
Describe two new concepts or ideas from this unit's readings that intrigued you or were meaningful to you in your profession and explain why you selected these items.
Learning Components
This activity will help you achieve the following learning components:
· Identify relevant performance indicators and performance measurement units.
· Identify appropriate structures (pie chart, graph, or spreadsheet) for the visual display of specific data.
· Construct a visual data display.
DQ5.
Fitting Data Into Visual Displays
Post the raw summarized data you have collected thus far by fitting it into the visual display structures that you created.
Learning Components
This activity will help you achieve the following learning components:
· Construct a visual data display.
DQ6.
Evidence Based Recommendations
Consider your visual data summaries and revisit the original problem statement. Provide a brief statement about what is important for each data display summary.
Review the relevant best practices literature for a minimum of two evidence-based recommendations. Recall that these recommendations should come from a current (last 3–5 years), authoritative literature.
Note: Please visit the Capella University Library for information about what constitutes an authoritative source.
Learning Components
This activity will help you achieve the following learning components:
· Identify authoritative sources of data and information.
· Identify significant and relevant data and information contained in the literature.
· Evaluate supporting evidence.
· Identify best-practice industry solutions to a problem.
DQ7.
Final Report Presentation
Create and present a poster or presentation that includes your title, problem, indicators and metrics, visual data displays, insights, and recommendations. The presentation should be no longer than two minutes.
You may use Microsoft PowerPoint or some other suitable presentation software to create your slides. If you need help designing your presentation, you are encouraged to review the various presentation resources provided for this assignment. These resources will help you to design an effective presentation, whether you choose to use PowerPoint or any other presentation design software.
You may use Kaltura Media, Adobe Connect or other technology of your choice for your audio recording.
· If you are using Kaltura Media, refer to Using Kaltura [PDF] for directions on recording and uploading your video in the courseroom.
· If you are using Adobe Connect, refer to the instructions and tutorials available from the Using Adobe Connect support page.
Note: If you use assistive technology or any alternative communication methods to access course content, please contact Disability Services with any access-related questions or to request accommodations.
Provide speaker notes or a script for your recording. This professional best practice will help you prepare for your presentation, serve to clarify any insufficient or unclear audio, and provide a text-based alternative to the visual presentation.
Embed, attach, or upload your presentation and speaker notes or script in the discussion area. Remember that your colleagues must be able to access your narrated presentation and related files.
Note: You have now completed the final project summary. If you are interested, you may contact the practicing health care professional who reviewed your project, and enquire if he or she would like to receive a copy of your poster or recorded summary presentation, or to have a web conference or in person meeting to hear the results. This is not required nor graded but is an opportunity for you to once again network with practicing health care professionals.
Learning Components
This activity will help you achieve the following learning components:
· Identify a current, relevant health care problem.
· Identify the most appropriate performance indicators and units of measurement for examining a specific problem.
· Identify best-practice industry solutions to a problem.
· Address the anticipated needs and concerns of an audience.
· Apply best practices to the design and development of presentation materials.
