Seven parts of research article
1. Title 2. Abstract: summary of the research report no more than 150 words
long, hypothesis, short discussion of procedure, pattern of results, no conclusions or discussion of results
3. Introduction (1) describes the problem (2) research review (past research and theories) (3) expectations of researcher are expressed, formal
hypothesis; how the past research is connected to the current research problem and its expected results
4. Methods (divided into subsections depending on complexity) (1) overview of design (setup) (2) characteristics of subjects (and how they were chosen) (3) procedures used, how data was recorded, how the study
was conducted (so it can be replicated) (4) any other necessary explanations
5. Results (1) verbal: description in narrative form of data (2) mathematical: statistical language, aids in evaluating data (3) pictorial: tables and graphs
6. Discussion (1) do results support the hypothesis?
(a) possible explanations of results, why one explanation is superior to another
(2) if does not support, why not? (a) what went wrong in methodology, hypothesis, etc.
(3) how results fit in with past research (4) practical applications of new findings (5) suggested future research areas
