Leadership Vision
Purpose
1. To understand the way visions are constructed by leaders in ongoing groups and organizations
2. To identify strategies that leaders employ to articulate and implement their visions
Directions
1. For this exercise, select two people in leadership positions to interview. They can be leaders in formal or infor- mal positions at work, at school, or in society. The only criterion is that the leader influences others toward a goal.
2. Conduct a 30-minute interview with each leader, by phone or in person. Ask the leaders to describe the visions they have for their organizations. In addition, ask, “How do you articulate and implement your visions?” Leader #1 (name) Stephanie Hernandez

Questions
1. What differences and similarities did you observe between the two leaders’ visions? Both leaders wanted their groups to be successful and to creat a positive environment. Michael , one of the leaders who was the leader of an media group. The other leader, Stephanie. Who was captain of her basketball team, was more concerned with creating tasks to improve their skills and thus win games.
2. Did the leaders advocate specific values? If yes, what values? Michael valued human dignity, fairness, and togetherness. Stephanie, on the other hand, valued compliance and dedication. She expected people to show up on time nd work hard through practice.
3. Did the leaders use any unique symbols to promote their visions? If yes, what symbols? Michael created a patch specifically for his team to link the, Stephanie did not use any symbols.
4. In what ways did the leaders’ behaviors model their visions to others? Everyone seems to like Michael because they respect him and feel comfortable coming to him with any problems. He leads by example and always tries to include others and intense situations he uses humor to future bond with his co-workers to create the cohesion he envisioned. Stephanie is very strict and creates lists and regimens for her team. Her task-based behaviors align with her vision of winning through hard work and improving skills.
