Data gathering plan is essential as it helps in carrying out the designated research for a collection of specific data or information. Basing on the project that was figured on researching the effects of trauma in the Hispanic/Latino Children population, I believe the plan will generate valid data. Different methods of data gathering plan do result in various types of the validity of data. However, regarding this case, the kind of validity that will be experienced is internal validity. Internal validity preferably takes place when conclusions can be drawn that the causal relationship is existing between the variable that is being studied. Studying a group of minority such as the Hispanic/Latino children concerning the effects of the trauma, eventually, show the interrelation between the two variations. The gathering plan in the case seemingly can result in internal validity due to the choice made on the participants that will be used in the data collection (Leung, 2015). Collecting data on effects of trauma on Hispanic/Latino population requires the affected ones to participate hence suggestions of using children and parents are the best option in this data-gathering plan particularly regarding the ages of the chosen community.
Equally, the data-gathering plan, in the case, is comprehensive; estimating the gap of age to carry out the study is essential when collecting data. In this data-gathering plan, children from the age of 10 to 12 will be used in the study. Having the shortest range of age such as the one in the project will help in gathering accurate data since it will give the researchers an easy time to find the participants (Sutton & Austin, 2015). Additionally, using children from the age of 10 to 12 may stimulate the collection of data that is not fabricated since children of such are believed to be trustworthy (Elo et al., 2014). Involving the parents of those particular ages makes the plan comprehensive too. Parents will help in explaining how the trauma has impacted their children and the observations they have been making. Considering the structure of the data-gathering, no concept is missing. In the plan, research question, research methods, the approach of study, specification of data, and collection of data and analysis are some of the essentials areas that have been scheduled in the plan. Capturing all such necessities in the data-gathering program as an effective way of researching since it affirms that no concept will miss hence the expected at the end of the study will be met successfully.
Data gathering plan can be improved in many ways to enhance the effectiveness of the research and data collection. This researcher can continue to collect a massive amount of data, and they can make experiences difficulties in processing; hence following ways should be used to improve data gathering plan. For instance, it is identifying appropriate study method that suits the chosen topic of the program. The researcher should go for ways that will stimulate and ensure that the data collected is the one expected regarding the research plan (Nowell, Norris, White & Moules, 2017). Considering the data plan method, using a qualitative approach to study the effects of the trauma on the Hispanic/Latino population, will be the best method for the study. Qualitative analysis involves inquiries, observations, and interviews that can be done by asking open-ended questions. At the same time, the qualitative method can help the researcher to find access to the feelings and thoughts of the participants and how they ascribe to their experiences (Sutton & Austin, 2015). In the plan, children and their parents will be interviewed hence the needed responses for the study will be identified. Identifying the answer that accords the topic of the research is essential since it is easy to give an analysis and a clear report on what they have gathered and found at the end.
Additionally, training those that will help during data collection is another crucial factor to consider as one way of improving data gathering plan. Data gathering needs people who are aware of what they are entitled to do in the field — studying a community of minority such as the Hispanic/Latino requires people with skills that can be able to handle them. Hispanic/Latino community experiences trauma affects them in different ways. Studying such people that undergo psychological torture may be challenging to get the appropriate information if the researchers lack the way to handle them; hence, deserves a substantial ethical approach (Kara & Pickering, 2017). Couching the helpers will not only assist in enhancing proper data gathering but also aid respondents to cooperate during the research. Therefore, those carrying studies are advised to train their helpers to ensure that no inconveniences are encountered.
In any given research, the data collected should be able to provide credible answers to the research questions. Having a well-structured data-gathering plan will serve a better purpose of ensuring that the information collected will give the answers to the study question (Leung, 2015). Basing on the data-gathering plan in the case; if it is followed and maintained, then the answers to the effects of trauma to the Hispanic/Latino will be solved. At the same time, appropriate suggestions can be used to improve data gathering plan, such as providing confidentiality to the participants.
Conclusively, data gathering plan assist in collecting information that is essential for study research on a particular topic. The method in the case will suit in collecting data about the effects of trauma on the Hispanic/Latino children population. Equally, the plan will generate valid data. Internal validity, which implies that conclusions can be drawn showing a relation between the two variables is the type of efficacy in the plan. Having a range variation from the age of 10 to 12 will make the research comprehensive since the researchers will have enough time to carry a complete study. A qualitative research method is the best for this topic plan in which the researchers will be able to ask questions, do interviews, and observations on the children and parents of Hispanic/Latino people. Training those who will help during the research and identifying the appropriate methods for the analysis are essential things that researchers should base on during data gathering plan.
