Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Chapter 13 and Chapter 14 from the course text,  Essentials of Environmental Health (3rd ed.). We normally think of injuries as caused by uncontrollable, chance events. Did you? Since taking this class, have you changed your way of thinking about the preventability of unintentional injuries?

In your initial post, discuss how your awareness of the roles played by objects in our environment (for example, those found at home or work or in leisure settings) has changed with respect to being the cause of injuries. In other words, do you see these objects differently? Also, share your personal definition of injury intentionality, and give three scenarios in which environmental factors might contribute to unintentional injuries. Conclude your posting, with a situation or object that you would not have acknowledged as potentially hazardous prior to this course.

Guided Response: Review several of your classmates’ posts and respond to a minimum of two of your peers. In your response, look at one of their examples and,

· List the environmental factor(s) associated with injury.

· Discuss how you would manage risk associated with this/these environmental factors.

· Discuss risk management both from an individual and public health perspectives.

· As you answer the second bullet point, please reflect upon and share how this course has changed the way you see and think about managing such factors, both for yourself and for others.
