Leadership Trait Questionnaire: Discipline-Specific Skills

            Considering all the focuses in the questionnaire, I perceive my greatest strength to be determined.  I have always prided myself on giving my all towards a goal or project to achieve or get the best results.  My determination can be seen in many moments throughout my career, but I believe the moment that best illustrated this strength is starting my M.B.A. a month after graduating with my bachelor’s degree. I am sure you all understand how intense school is, so starting graduate school without a break, indeed demonstrated my determination.  Northouse further states, “Determination is the desire to get the job done and includes characteristics such as initiative, persistence, dominance, and drive. People with determination are willing to assert themselves, are proactive, and have the capacity to persevere in the face of obstacles. Being determined includes showing dominance at times and in situations where followers need to be directed” (Northouse, 2018, Ch. 2, Sec. 1). 

            My greatest weakness would have to be self-assured. I believe I have a lot of confidence, but I often find myself doubting myself in the workplace. As an analyst, I am responsible to investigate hundreds of accounts and look for discrepancies, which means I need to be very detail oriented.  Being that my job responsibilities require to be nearly perfect, I result in thinking that I have made errors on previous accounts I worked on. For example, there is a report created weekly that focuses on errors made on accounts and I always think my name will be on that list.  Luckily, the accounts I have worked on have not been included in that account, but I still catch myself doubting my work and expecting an error to be made. This is a weakness I have noticed since I first started working, but I have been taking the necessary steps in bettering it my double checking my work so there is no doubt.
