Please note that NO ASSIGNMENT will be accepted AFTER the last official class session for the semester. The last Summer Class session for the Semester is December 13th. |
THIS COURSE WILL USE THE STANDARD SCALE WHERE AN A (90 %), B (80 %), C (70 %), D (60%) AND F (LESS THAN 60 %) WILL BE ASSIGNED BASED ON TOTAL POINTS EARNED.
Assignments . The following narrative is intended to clarify information supplied in the course syllabus. Unless otherwise noted, the student is expected to follow the description provided in the course syllabus.
Attendance & Participation. Attendance is based on the proportion of class sessions at which the student is present. Participation relates to the quality of his/her class involvement. Participation is a subjective measure that will be made by the instructor when the final grade is assigned. Class Tardiness will be noted and any accumulation of three late class arrivals will constitute an absence when calculating the proportion of A&P points awarded.
Research Paper: Rights of Parents of Children with Special Education Needs. Each student will complete a fully referenced research paper delineating all aspects of rights and responsibilities of parents and children with disabilities as partners in the special education process.

IRIS Module: Related Services: Common Supports for Students with Disabilities |
|
This module offers a description of related services and an overview of the benefits they provide to students with disabilities in the general education classroom. It highlights five commonly used related services (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology Services, Social Work Services, and Psychological Services) and briefly highlights many of the other related services as identified through IDEA '04 (est. completion time: 1 hour).

Parent Participation Program. Each student will design and implement a program intended to increase the quantity and quality of interaction and involvement of parents in your class/school. In addition to a fully referenced narrative submitted, each student will present and discuss his/her Parent Participation Program in class.
**THIS COURSE WILL BE CONDUCTED IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE CSC POLICY ON PLAGIARISM and FRAUD . **
IMPORTANT GRADING POINTS:
· ASSIGNMENTS HANDED IN LATE WILL LOOSE 20% OF ITS POINT VALUE.
· NO ASSIGNMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED MORE THAN ONE WEEK AFTER ITS DUE DATE.
· Each student's final grade will be computed based on the assignments completed by the last day of regularly scheduled classes for the semester.
· ALL ASSIGNMENTS REQUIRING THE USE OF REFERENCING MUST FOLLOW AN ACCEPTED REFERENCING FORMAT OR STYLE (IE. APA FORMAT). A SAMPLE OF THE APA FORMAT IS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.
· THIS CLASS WILL ADHERE TO THE POLICIES REGARDING ESSAY QUESTIONS, OUT-OF-CLASS PAPER ASSIGNMENTS, AND THE POLICY RELATED TO PLAGIARISM and FRAUD .
PLAGIARISM: " It will be taken for granted that any work, oral, or written, that a student does for this course is his/her original work. Any violation of this rule constitutes PLAGIARISM. Plagiarism includes any form of cheating on Unit Quizzes, tests, or Unit Quizzes, and any unacknowledged/undocumented use of another's ideas, published or unpublished. A student who plagiarizes WILL RECEIVE AN 'F' FOR THE PROJECT." ***
FRAUD: It will be taken for granted that any written work presented to meet a course requirement is submitted only in one class. Any student wishing to use the same document to meet the requirement of more than one class must secure written approval from the instructors. Any violation of this regulation will receive an "F" for the requirement in each course.
