Researchers have produced convincing evidence that physical well-being is critical to sustainable leadership effectiveness. What feedback can you give on the relationship between stress, physical well-being, and leadership effectiveness. Do you agree with example below?

As a leader, there are many demands that one might face throughout their day, both personal and professional. These demands are going to take a toll on someone if they are not managed correctly, and rest and recovery time is managed as well. Someone who has a background in fitness or athletics has a better understanding of this process. "The point here is that leadership is not just about time management but also about energy management" (Ting & Scisco, 2006). An Executive Coach might not be qualified for fitness coaching, but it might not be a bad recommendation for their clients. When a client takes care of their physical self, including working out sleeping enough and eating right, they are going to be able to enhance their performance on a completely different level.

Unless the Executive Coach is also certified in these other fields, I do not think it appropriate for them to add workouts or diets as part of their coachees' development plan. If it is something that would help drive the coachee's performance, I think the coach should refer them to someone in that field. There is a lot that goes into proper health and fitness changes, especially if someone has not been taking care of themselves for a while. My bachelor's degree is in strength and conditioning with a minor in nutrition. One thing we learned a lot about is the potential liability one might have if they do not have the proper training. Outside of liability, it is possible to really injure or even kill someone if the right precautions are not taken. It is because of these complexities I passionately believe the coach should be partnering with another professional that they can refer their clients too as needed. No argument being in better health and taking care of one's self would drive their performance. It is just vital that it is done safely.
