Common Assignment (Parts 2-4) (40 points) Part 2: Program Design – Due Module 5 – August 7 Program mission statement; (Module 3)
The mission of the psychoeducational group is to decrease the number of youth/adolescents that enter the juvenile system and provide productive services that should help reduce the crime rates. The psychoeducational group will educate, promote recovery, and create positive opportunities for success for the youth and attempt to prevent re-entry in the justice system.
• At least 3 program goals, linked to the mission; (module 3) • Goal 1: Educate the youth about their cases and how to navigate the justice system.
Goal 2: Refer the youth/adolescent to services such as therapy, mental health services and substance abuse.
Goal 3: Assist the youth with having positive outlets in the community such as employment or other outside activities.
At least 3 objectives (at least one short, one medium and one long term objective per goal) (module 3) • Goal 1 Objective: Youth will show an increased understanding in their case and justice system as observable through a pre and post test. (short term)
Youth will be able to identify 2 resources that can assist them post incarceration (medium term)
Youth will check in with support 2 times per week decreasing likelihood of recidivism. (long
Goal 2 Objective: Youth will attend therapy session schedule set forth by therapist (short)
Youth will actively participate in group therapy 2xs per week (medium)
Youth will set up continued service post incarceration (long term)
Goal 3 Objective: Youth will research potential community interests between sessions sharing them bi-weekly (short)
Youth will work with social worker to identify locations in their own community.
Youth will engage with community resource post incarceration as positive support system 2xs per week.

LCSW, MSW intern, Mentors (volunteers), IT services (Equipment), Volunteers, Education Room/Space to provide psychoeducation, Time, Supplies, Funders.
Activities
Provide a safe, trustful and supportive environment for everyone.
Train LCSW, MSW Interns and Mentors on Psychoeducation prevention curriculum.
Apply for grant funding.
Provide information to schools, police departments and court systems about the program for referrals.
Provide education to adolescents about the justice system and their legal rights.
Provide education to adolescents on problem solving and coping skills to build on adolescent’s acquired resiliency skills.
Assign mentors to psychoeducation groups for support and guidance to adolescents.
Outputs ( this is a thought that came to me it can be altered as we continue to come up with ideas)
Adolescents between the ages of 12 to 18 years old who are suspected to engage in violent crimes or are on the verge of becoming part of the juvenile justice system.
2 psychoeducational group sessions running congruent for the span of 8 weeks
Groups will be divided into ages of 12 to 15 and 16 to 18 years old.
10 adolescents per group session

Short
Adolescents will learn new ways of problem solving to cope with stressors and build on resiliency skills.
Adolescents will learn to build healthy positive relationships.
Adolescents will be assigned a mentor to guide in additional resources and referrals needed within the community.
Adolescents will learn information about the justice system.
Medium
Adolescents will use new ways of problem solving and coping to improve resiliency after experiencing stressor/ problem.
Adolescents will establish healthy and positive relationships.
Adolescents will use their knowledge about the justice system and their rights to advocate for themselves.
Longterm
Adolescents will refer other adolescents at risk for violent crimes or gang related activity to the program.
There will be a reduction of violent crimes, gang activity related and re- incarceration in the community of New Haven.
