Data Mining, Pick one way.
Hi everyone: OK on page 361 in the text book is figure 11.1 on Data Mining Options.
So your job is to select either Market Basket Analysis (items that are purchased together) or Consumer Clustering (individuals who have some common demographics tend to buy the same products/services) and give us some examples from our personal lives or from friends/associates. Even from work.
Market Basket: I am gluten intolerant (ciliac condition, can not eat wheat and several other grains). So when I do my personal shopping every couple of weeks, I buy gluten free bread, gluten free pasta and gluten free cookies. Note: the breads and cookies are great. The pasta is an acquired taste. I recommend you never try gluten free pizza. Always at Trader Joe's, best variety of gluten free products and the best prices. That is my market basket.
Consumer Clustering: It is a family joke that my older brother and I (born 14 months apart) would buy, without knowing what the other one is doing, the same things. For several decades, our family car was a dodge station wagon, same color. Our commuter car was always a VW bug. We would show up for a family gathering and, sure enough, our taste in clothes was the same. Even our 1st 2 houses were garrison colonials. We even married school teachers. How is that for clustering?!!! But not in everything, he is a republican and I am a democrat.
Your turn
