6.2 Assignment. Reflection - The Product and The Process

Getting Started

Over the past five weeks, we have learned a lot about teams and how they function. You have also worked together with a team so that you are not only learning about teams from what you are studying but you are learning more about teams from what you have been doing. Your team submitted its video presentation in Workshop Five. For Workshop Six each student will submit a reflection report that will reflect on team project product and process as well as learning in the entire course.

Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:

Instructions

1. For your reflection project, submit a 4 – 5 page reflection report that addresses the following prompts:

a. What were the two or three most important “product” insights that you gained from the team experience? In other words, when you think about the “content” or the Personal Leadership Certificate that your team developed, what is new or enhanced in your knowledge about leaders or leader development? (@ 1 page)

b. What were the two or three most important “process” insights that you gained from the team experience? Yes, we know that team projects can be challenging in a course. Feel free to discuss both positive and challenging things that you experience. These might include insights into designing teams, team formation, or other topics that are part of course material. Be sure to make your discussion productive. In other words, your reflection is not a gripe session. Rather it should demonstrate you experiential learning in ways that add to your leader tool kit. (@ 1 page)

c. Beyond the ideas that you articulate about your experiential learning (previous assignment prompt – b.), what are three to five other important principles and practices for groups and teams that you draw from the course? In other words, what else are you adding to your leader toolkit? (@ 1 to 1.5 pages)

2. Include an introduction, conclusion, and properly formatted citations and references in support of your work. In your conclusion to the report, address how you will operate in or lead a team differently in the future as a result of your learning these past few weeks. (introduction and conclusion, combined should be @½ to 1 page).
