Position: Entire Archery Team Drill Name: Tic-Tac-Toe Drill
Age-Group: All Ages or Ability-Levels Number of Personnel: 16
Equipment Needed: 16 bows, 144 arrows (72 white, 72 non-white), 8 target faces w/ 9-square-grids, 8 hay-bales
Facility Needed: Outdoor PE Field
Drill Objective: The performers (in pairs) will alternately shoot for accuracy, at a paper target containing 9 squares (tic-tac-toe board, tacked to a hay-bale), with the goal of aligning/placing fired arrows across, down, or diagonally, in the squares, to defeat an opponent. Each archer will have 9 arrows, in case of misses.
Procedure: One paired archer for each target will have 9 white arrows, and the partner will have 9 non-white arrows. Archers with non-white arrows will fire first for each drill trial. All arrows landing inside a box counts, any arrow on a line does not count, just as any arrow that misses the target does not count. The grid of squares can be larger or smaller based on skill-level, and the shooting distance of 10, 20, or 30 yards. Dots can be placed in the center of each square as well, for advanced archers). Targets are shown as squares below, archers ar labeled as X and Y below.
