The most interesting subject we covered in this course for me is the Concept of a Dose and Related Terms. According to Friis, the term dose refers to the amount of a substance administered at one time. The dose-response pairing it the most basic toxicologic concept, it often refers to a type of correlative relationship between the characteristics of exposure to a chemical and the wide range of effects caused by the chemical (Friis). In relation to the concept of dose, I think assessments are the best preventative methods that are being used (the same could be said for many other aspects of environmental health. Assessments are used to gather adequate quantitative information, whether it be for dose-response or the amount of exposure an individual has endured.
The best fitting intervention for the dose concept would be the precede-proceed mode. This model is a comprehensive structure for assessing health needs for designing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion and other public health programs to meet those needs (RHIhub). Precede provides the structure for planning a targeted and focused public health program (RHIhub). Proceed provides the structure for implementing and evaluating the public health program (RHIhub). The model has led to great solution discoveries in air pollution and helps determine future trends, which helps environmental officials to get a grasp on the issue at hand.
