Language Scores

Each Life Language has its own individual score, for example, Responder 93 (Very High). The higher the score, the more energy you have to speak that Language. The Language score also tells you how strongly you may identify with the characteristics of that Language in its pure form. A higher score means you speak that Life Language more fluently or with less effort. Just like you can have varying degrees of fluency in foreign languages, your Language scores show your fluency in each Life Language. Language scores are different from your Overall Intensity which shows your overall passion, energy, and effort you are likely to display in your communication regardless of your Life Languages' order.

Gap

Gap is the distance from one Life Language to the next Language in your KLLP. For example, if your Responder score is 70 and your Doer score is 60, those two Languages have a Gap of 10. The greater the Gap, the more effort or intention it takes to move from speaking one Life Language to the other. The smaller the Gap, the easier it is to move between the two Life Languages and the greater responsibility one has to be clear when communicating and shifting from one Life Language to another.

Your Accumulated Range – Low

Range is the difference or distance between your Primary and Seventh Life Languages. Add up the Gap scores between each Language (or subtract the 7th Language score from the 1st Language score) to find your total Range. You will also want to note the Gap score between each Language and how the Range increases with each descending Language to give you the total Range score as shown above.

Your Range Score is considered Low. A high or low score is neither better nor worse, though very meaningful. A High Range means that you tend to stand out in your Primary Language and have a more definable behavior and communication style. However, you may have more difficulty communicating with those who speak your weaker Languages. Someone with a Low Range might be able to communicate easily with all the Languages, but may be less predictable and understandable to others, and sometimes even to themselves. The failure to understand Range is one of the primary causes of communication difficulties.

Your Overall Intensity – High (74)

Your Intensity Level is High. Your Intensity score reveals the strength, energy, and passion you have for communication. The higher your Intensity, the higher your drive to communicate and the more effort you put into it. High Intensity often means you will fight for your opinion to be considered and to exercise control (whether directly or indirectly). You will do more to maintain communication and relationships. You may also be more prone to conflict. People with High Intensity tend to draw attention. People with Low Intensity generally do not compete to be heard, although they may have valuable contributions to make and are sometimes overlooked or ignored.

Responder Summary – Emotive Intelligence Category

Those who speak Responder are compassionate, passionate, sensitive, warm, protective, multi-faceted, rescuing and easy to communicate with. Your KLLP™ indicates that you speak Moderate Responder. This means that you will have some of the Responder characteristics some of the time.

Because you speak Responder moderately, you can choose to access and operate in the positive Responder qualities that are such valuable strengths in today's hurting world. You tend to prefer peaceful relationships and conditions. Conflict

probably bothers you, but by disengaging from it, you can retain personal peacefulness. This can give you the ability to be a good negotiator or mediator.

You will have occasions when you can freely show warmth and affection with pats on the back and hugs. However, you probably will not be that way all the time with everyone. Those who speak Moderate Responder usually realize when this is appropriate and when it could be misunderstood, such as in the workplace.

Whether developed or not, it is within you to be creative and imaginative. You can find joy in the creative expression of your feelings and thoughts. Look for ways to express yourself creatively.

You look for the best in others and give them the benefit of the doubt, but you are equally capable of seeing their faults and usually neither surprises you.

One of your strong character qualities is compassion, yet because you speak Responder moderately, you may be selective in who you show compassion to, generally choosing those in your immediate circle, or those who are hurting who you can relate to.

You can be an effective leader whom others want to follow because they know you care. In leadership positions, you will generally be protective and supportive and rescue those in need.

Of all the 7 Life Languages™, those who speak Responder possibly have the greatest potential for good because they care so deeply for others. Celebrate the fact that you have it within you to be caring, sensitive, warm, protective, compassionate, rescuing, multi-faceted, and passionate about life and others when it is appropriate and when you choose to.

Each icon reveals the story of that Life Language. You will see the characteristics designed within the picture. If the icon were all you had, you could study it and understand a great deal about the particular communication style of each Life Language.

■ Central Icon– The Central Icon of the Responder Life Language is the hand holding the very large heart. Responders like to connect at a heart level. The Responder lives connected at a heart level to everyone and everything to which they give themselves. To them, it is the only way to live–engaged at the heart. The heart is central to the Responder and represents the Emotive Intelligence of this passionate Life Language.

■ Name– The design of the name suggests how Responders navigate relationships and career. The Responder name is curved as if it were wrapped around, just as Responders typically wrap themselves around the important things and people in their lives. Success is also enjoyed by Responders as they can wrap themselves around a goal until they succeed. Important relationships and causes are a passion for the Responder. They function best in life when they believe in what they are doing, who they are in relationship, and they can make a difference. Responders also thrive where they know they are valued by others.

■ Heart - Emotive Intelligence Category– The extended hand represents the Responder's desire to reach out to others with compassion and help ease their pain, especially emotional pain. The Responder, though they generally like to be part of a team and can have many friends, generally prefer the depth and intimacy of one-to-one relationships. Responders are also more willing to ask for help from others if they need it.

■ Heart Extended in Hand– As indicated, this Language lives life with its heart fully engaged. The Responder is a very relational Life Language and is usually drawn to one individual–the one in need, the one in pain, the one alone, the one hurting, the one who is their leader, or the cause that grabs their passion. Their loyalty and willingness to come alongside another makes them a great friend. They are moved easily in their emotions and find seeming tireless energy to care about and for others and derive great energy and satisfaction doing so.

■ Artist's Palette– The artist’s palette symbolizes the creativity of Responders. More music, poetry, art, literature, architecture, dance, and so forth is created by Responders and Influencers than any other Life Language. Responders who have not developed artistic abilities themselves are likely aficionados and appreciators of creativity and possibly collectors.

Your Primary Life Language: Responder 63 (Moderate) KendallLife Languages Profile™

SARA FADEL- 10/25/2020 ©Life Languages International™ Page 7

■ Harp– The harp indicates the very creative and musical nature of the Responder Life Language. The strings of the harp also represent the strings of the heart. The Responder’s emotions are never far from the surface, and they can be touched easily by the concerns and needs of others. This can also make it easy for them to feel and take things personally.

■ Diamond– The diamond represents the complex, multi-faceted nature of the Responder and their great value. Just as a diamond needs outside pressure to come into its full potential, if a Responder is not multi- faceted and shining brightly, they may need people to come around them, mentor them, and believe in them to help them find and achieve their truly amazing potential.

■ Goal Posts– The goal posts at the top of the icon represent the Responders’ ability to be very goal- oriented. A person, project, or job that touches their heart deeply can lead them to be passionately energized. Responders are often great at sports, especially contact sports, boxing, hockey, tennis, etc. All of these are symbolized by the goal posts.

■ Flags on Goal Posts– The flags on top of the goal posts are blowing two different ways, showing the incredible nature of the Responder to be flexible and sometimes easily persuaded, to hold opposing feelings and ideas, and to see both sides of a situation. Due to this ability in their nature the Responder can become great peacemakers in various situations personally to professionally.

Filter Do you Really Care?

Need Acceptance & Be Heard and Understood

Passion To Please & To Protect

Key Character Strength Compassion

Filter Each Life Language has an internal filter screening incoming and outgoing communication. This internal filter is like wearing colored glasses. The Responder’s color is deep feeling purple (violet), so imagine that you see the world through that color’s sensitive filter. The Responder's Filter is, “Do you really care?”

Responders tend to look and listen to determine if others genuinely care about them and about others and the things they care about. A more positive approach could be to choose a conscious paradigm shift, turning the filter question in to a statement of celebration that sends the message to others, “I care about you.”

Need From Others – Acceptance / Heard and Understood Each Life Language has needs that can be met through personal and professional relationships. Those who speak Responder feel loved, valued, and motivated by receiving Acceptance from those in their lives and being Heard and Understood. In the presence of Acceptance and others taking the time to allow the Responder Life Language to be Heard and Understood, you are motivated to activate your Passion: to please and protect. If you are in an environment where you don't receive the acceptance you need nor are you being heard and understood, remember that the most important thing is to accept yourself. Remember, too, that others may not understand your great need to be heard. Believe in yourself, stand in the security that you know your heart, and trust you.

Passion – To Please and Protect Passion is the spark that makes your life worth living. Each Life Language has a Passion that motivates

Your Primary Life Language: Responder 63 (Moderate) KendallLife Languages Profile™

SARA FADEL- 10/25/2020 ©Life Languages International™ Page 8

and gives direction to their communication style. The Responder's Passion is two-fold: To Please and Protect (and sometimes part of protecting is rescuing). This is a gift that makes you sensitive to others and a wonderful friend, employee, or employer. These desires make you a force of strength, especially concerning those you care about.

Key Character Strength – Compassion Each Life Language has many character strengths, but there is one that is the primary or Key Character Strength and generally most pronounced in that person. The Key Character Strength for Responder is Compassion. Compassion is defined as a feeling of deep sympathy for another, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. The Responder's energy and compassion for those they know and even for complete strangers comes from their intense Compassion. Though speakers of all the 7 Life Languages™ can show compassion, none do it as consistently and powerfully as the Responder.

Responder Essential Qualities to Develop The following two qualities may not come naturally to you but are indispensable to your overall success in life. Develop and safeguard these qualities to demonstrate maturity and healthy character. Choosing to cultivate them will make a positive difference in your life and help you succeed.

First Essential Quality to Develop – Responsibility The first Essential Quality for the Responder to cultivate is Responsibility, especially to time and schedules. People who speak Responder tend to live in the present, being "here and now" people. You show Responsibility when you can postpone urgent needs (or instant gratification) in order to take care of the truly important and meet prior commitments. Demonstrating the Essential Quality of Responsibility will enhance your relationships and success.

Second Essential Quality to Develop – Professionalize, don't Personalize The second Essential Quality for Responders to develop is Professionalize, Don't Personalize. People who speak Responder may take things personally, even things not directed to them or specifically about them. They also can choose to not take things personally. Professionals generally look at things objectively rather than emotionally. Ask yourself, "How would a professional respond to this?” Or ask, "Is this about me and my behavior, or another’s issues or communication style?" Pondering these questions brings objectivity and thinking into your feelings. Often others are just acting according to their Life Languages™, perhaps even their distress levels, and it has nothing to do with you. Developing or maintaining this Essential Quality of Professionalize, don't Personalize, will ensure success in your personal and professional relationships.

Career Information

Responder Leadership Style Every Life Language can be a leader, but each does it differently. One Life Language’s leadership style is not more important or more successful than any other. There are 7 Life Languages™ and there are seven different leadership styles. People who speak Responder make compassionate leaders who place great importance on the well being of those under their leadership. They are passionate about causes or goals and are relentless in their pursuits. They typically embrace teamwork and like to get the thoughts and feelings of those under their leadership as part of the decision making process. Responders are very effective at hiring a well-rounded team due to their heightened awareness of those around them.

Cultural Philosophy “We have a job to accomplish so let’s support and take care of each other as we achieve mutual goals; building success on each other’s known strengths.”

Responders as Employees Responders can also make great employees and generally work tirelessly if they feel appreciated and

believe in the company, cause, and person they work for. Their Passion is "To Please and Protect” and also to rescue. They can handle compassionate constructive criticism well if they feel the deliverer cares for them personally.

Fun Facts

Color and Music There are seven colors in the color spectrum and seven whole musical notes. In 1666, Sir Isaac Newton united in one mathematical matrix the phenomena of light and sound, and it continues today as the color- music code. Colors vibrate and the measurement of the vibration corresponds with the vibration of the musical notes.

Color – Purple (Violet) Deep feeling purple (violet) is the color associated with honor, spirituality, self-esteem, royalty, creativity, imagination, affection, romance, and passion. The Responder’s passion comes from their emotional energy. Violet or purple is also associated with sacrifice, such as the Purple Heart awarded for wounds during battle.

Responder Core Value – Individualism A Core Value is the central, most important principle or standard characteristic for a particular Life Language. All the aspects of a Life Languages (Filter, Need, Passion, and Key Character Strength) come together to reveal what that Life Language values most. The Core Value for the Responder Life Language is Individualism (meaning interest, concern, and care to one rather than a group).

The Responder Motto “I don't care how much you know until I know how much you really care.”

Color The Primary Color of the icon, which symbolizes the Responder characteristics, is "Deep Feeling" Purple (or Violet).

Nature Symbol – Collie The Nature Symbol for the Responder Life Language is the caring collie. Like Responders, Collies are loyal friends and faithful companions, smart, teachable, energetic, sensitive, protective, regal, inspirational, and loving.

Communication Indicators

Just as a thermometer indicates air or body temperature, the following Communication Indicators give you further insight into your communication style. They impact and play a role in your overall communication but do not determine your communication style. The following Indicators are scored High, Moderate, and Low. These scales differ from your 7 Life Languages™ scales, as Indicators may change through life experiences and choices.

Indicator Score Result 1. Acceptance Level 43 Moderate 2. Interactive Style Balanced 72 High 3. Internal Control 29 Low 4. Intrusion Level 84 High 5. Projective Level 30 Low 6. Susceptibility to Stress 2 Low 7. Learning Preference Order

Visual 48 High Physical 33 Moderate Auditory 19 Low

1. Acceptance Level

This scale measures how you tend to view yourself–whether you more easily see your strengths and positive attributes, your weaknesses and negative qualities, or a balance between the two, easily and honestly seeing both your negative and positive qualities.

Your Acceptance Level – Moderate (43)

A Moderate Acceptance Level indicates that you tend to have a balanced awareness of yourself and accept and focus equally on your positive attributes and your negative attributes. You are probably not uncomfortable with or especially troubled by either. Negative input about yourself by others, while you will not like it, will not shake your Acceptance. Positive input about yourself by others will be appreciated and enjoyed, but it will not typically change your Acceptance. If you see that you are focusing too much on the negative, you can easily make the adjustment and move your focus to the positive.

2. Interactive Style

This scale indicates how comfortable you are with people most of the time. The KLLP™ measures Introvert, Balanced and Extrovert somewhat differently from other measurements; it measures preference rather than overall behavior. For example, it measures whether you prefer working alone or in groups, or

Making the most of your KLLP™ KendallLife Languages Profile™

SARA FADEL - 10/25/2020 ©Life Languages International™ Page 17

working with those you know or do not know. As another example, a person who scores as an Introvert on the KLLP™ may seem outgoing and somewhat extroverted to those he or she knows well, but will be less verbal, outgoing, and interactive with strangers or acquaintances.

Your Interactive Style – Balanced (72)

Your KLLP™ indicates that you generally do not want to work alone all the time, nor do you want to work with others all the time. You prefer to balance your activity between the two. Although you can be a self starter and work alone, you can also be a team player. However, doing one all the time to the exclusion of the other could potentially cause you stress and distress. There will probably be times when you go from one extreme to the other. You can work behind the scenes, or when called upon, you can move more toward the stage center. Neither is compulsive. Overall this helps you be more flexible than many because you are comfortable in most settings.

3. Internal Control Level

This scale indicates how you see yourself in the area of self-discipline or self-governing vs. spontaneity or impulsiveness. Generally speaking, if we have high Internal Control, we are less prone to being externally controlled, either by others, circumstances, or experiences. The higher our Internal Control, the more disciplined we are, and the lower our Internal Control the more flexible and spontaneous we are.

Your Internal Control Level – Low (29)

A Low Internal Control Level suggests you are likely to be flexible or spontaneous and possibly impulsive, as opposed to being more self-disciplined. This may mean that you can be a “spur of the moment” kind of person. Self-discipline for you is probably by choice, decision, and determination, or when the situation or task is important or demanding. Doing something more enjoyable may often pull you away unless you have chosen to add self-government to your character. A paradox in your life is that you will probably do well in an environment that requires flexibility, yet has existing structure.

4. Intrusion Level

This scale measures how you see yourself handling unexpected interruptions, intrusions, interference, outside stimuli, and people or situations foreign to you. Your Intrusion Level indicates how comfortable and tolerant you are with distractions and differences. Some people like a more structured environment, and others flow more easily with uninvited or unscheduled people or situations. Regardless of our Intrusion score, we can all form the good habit of communicating gently and kindly when intrusions become an issue.

Your Intrusion Level – High (84)

Your score indicates higher levels of comfort, patience, and tolerance for life as it is presented. You tend to be okay with those who are considerably different or speak different Life Languages than you. You probably easily overlook intrusions or interruptions. You have the ability to accept others,

their differences, and much of life without making judgments or needing to change it. However, you must guard yourself against allowing intrusions to be an escape from necessary tasks that achieve quality results.

5. Projective Indicator

This scale indicates how important other’s perception and opinion is to you. For example: a person with a high projective score could be greatly concerned if others had a less than positive opinion of them. A person with a low score would probably shrug it off and not let it bother them. A balance between high and low is valuable because it lets you objectively evaluate others' attitudes about you and remain teachable.

Your Projective Level – Low (30)

A Low Projective Level suggests that if others are indifferent to you or even disrespectful, you can probably shrug it off. The opinions of others do not generally impact your attitude or activities. An extremely Low Projective Level can cause others to possibly see you as indifferent, not easily motivated by others, and unconcerned about others’ opinions. Generally, you do what you want to, without a great deal of concern. This tends to make you not overly subjected to peer pressure.

6. Susceptibility to Stress

This scale measures your vulnerability to stress that comes into your life. Stress happens to everyone and comes from various sources, even from having too many good things going on at one time. We are more susceptible to stress when we are too busy, lacking sleep, not feeling well, fatigued, frustrated, lacking exercise, and even unable to express ourselves adequately. Failure to handle stress properly can cause us to move into one or more of the Distress Levels of our Life Languages, but we can learn to recognize our stress and do what is necessary to de-stress. Distress, by Life Languages definition, is when you respond negatively to any situation. One key to avoid distress is to H.A.L.T: Avoid stressful situations when your are H-hungry, A-angry, L-lonely, or T-tired.

Your Susceptibility to Stress – Low (2)

A Low Susceptibility to Stress indicates that, when in stressful situations or when dealing with problems or crises, you tend to remain calm rather than overly excited or even panicked. You most likely respond to challenging or unpleasant situations in the same way you would respond to normal circumstances. By allowing stress to pass over you, it is not likely to be a factor in causing you to descend into your Distress Levels. On the other hand, people who have a Low Susceptibility to Stress may be less aware of danger and may not notice that something is different or amiss like a hyper-vigilant, High Susceptibility to Stress person would.

7. Learning Preference

There are three basic Learning styles: Auditory, Visual, and Physical. Everyone learns in all three ways, but usually one will come more naturally to you, and you will have a preference for it if you have the choice. It will usually be the best and easiest way for you to gain new knowledge or sharpen your skills.

Your Learning Preference – Visual (48)

Your Profile indicates that you are a Visual learner. You tend to think in pictures. For example, when learning something new or learning how to do something, you prefer to see the item, equipment, or at least a picture or diagram. The visual picture stays with you. If you can see it as you learn, you remember it. When you hear or read information, you usually translate it into a visual “picture” in your mind. When someone tells you a story, you often hear it “visually”, the words become pictures. You probably also read body language and facial expressions well. Watching instruction-based media would be a valuable method of learning for you.

The Life Languages™ profile is not just a one-time assessment—it is a system to use for life as you grow and learn to truly communicate well with every person you meet anywhere and anytime. If you are serious about personal and professional development, your next step is to contact your Life Languages™ Certified Coach and schedule an appointment to have your KLLP™ unpacked for you. We would be happy to connect you with a Life Languages™ Certified Communication Coach to help you on your journey to become a more effective communicator. Your coach will give insight into your KLLP™ that will make a measurable difference in your personal and professional effectiveness. Remember: It's more about communication than you think! We encourage you to read, reflect on, study and review your KLLP™ carefully. The more you understand the Life Languages™ the better you can apply them in your relationships. Typically, those who have Life Languages™ similar to our own are initially easier for us to communicate and get along with. It takes more energy to communicate with those whose profiles are different to ours. However, learning to accept and understand the differences in each of the 7 Life Languages™ can help us bridge those differences and bring balance and strength to our relationships. When interacting with those who have not taken the KLLP™, remember that the most frequently spoken Life Languages™ by both men and women is the Responder (33% of the population). Everyone needs to know that you care. You will be amazed at the changes that will take place if you simply address the basic Filters, Needs, Passions and Key Character Strengths of each Life Language™ with those you relate to whether adults or children. Another way to help you understand the communication style of others who have not taken the KLLP™ is to try and determine their Category: Do they feel first (Emotive Category), think first (Cognitive Category), or act first (Kinetic Category)? Do they say things like: “I feel that this just isn’t the thing to do,” or “I think that we should consider...,” or “Let’s do it! Why stand around?” Once you have determined their Category, you can respond accordingly by using action, feeling or thinking words and see what a difference that makes.
