Phonemic Awareness

. Phonemic Awareness is the ability to identify and manipulate individuals sounds in spoken words. The ability to hear and manipulate the sounds in spoken words and understanding that spoken words and syllables are made up of sequences of speech sounds.

In my classroom, these are a few ways I will be teaching phonemic awareness.

 Circle Rhyme  Bag of sounds  Clap out the sound.  Reading Preparedness

At home, there are many fun ways you can reinforces this skill at home.

 Play I spy  Practice combining words and syllables  Guess my word 
