The mission statement for the hospital I currently work for is " A Community Built on Care". Living and working in Miami make you appreciate and learn from all the different cultures that are within our community. Our hospital take pride in helping the community by giving them access to healthcare when they needed. Like I stated on my last week's post, we do or used to do monthly health clinic to help the community and those less fortunate check their cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure. Also the hospital collaborate with nursing homes, rehabs and SNF to accommodate patients to their needs once they are discharge. The representative form the different nursing homes and rehabs come to the hospital and talk to the patients and their family to offer them their services. They also offer tours within the rehab to make sure the family gets familiar with the services provided and the accommodation needed for them. Another important collaboration that the hospital makes is with the different home health agencies. Most of the patients from my unit are going to need some kind of services when they go home. Most of them or all of them had surgery so most likely they'll need wound care or physical therapy. Because of the nature of my floor,. which is a surgical floor, we mostly collaborate with the organizations or institution I mentioned above. Also we work closely with the ambulance service, specially for the ortho patients once they are discharge. Like the mission statement said our hospital is build on care, we tried to accommodate each patients to the best of their needs and this makes a great community and culture of care in the hospital and all the employees work together with outside resources and organizations to guarantee a pleasant stay as well as when the patient go home. We try our best to help the patient, before, during and after discharge.

This week's clinical site experience was among the most insightful I have had in my nursing education. The exercise occurred in a nursing and rehabilitation center that caters to patients with various degrees of medical needs. Rehabilitation is a key component in a patient’s journey towards wellness and restoration to their functional life (Abu Mostafa, Plastow & Savin-Baden, 2020). Throughout my stay at the facility, I had numerous eye-opening experiences. One of the difficulties I encountered was delivering the news about a patient’s paralysis after undergoing a traumatic spinal injury. This was my most challenging moment as I could not comprehend how to break such difficult news to a patient who was hopeful about regaining his ability to walk. I learned several nursing interventions during the week. One of the most invaluable was the use of massage and heat to stimulate nerves and muscles. Physiotherapists administered these interventions to the spinal injury patient. According to Harvey (2016), physical therapy is vital for spinal cord injury patients’ restoration to a productive and satisfying life and averts numerous other complications linked to the ailment.
The nursing and rehabilitation facility collaborates with distinct professions, organizations, and stakeholders to promote health. The facility caters to patients with distinct medical needs; hence, multidisciplinary teams collaborate to promote patients’ wellbeing. On the other hand, organizations and stakeholders play an integral role in ensuring the facility operates effectively. Charitable organizations, community members, and philanthropists provide different support services to the facility. For example, they donate essential patient equipment to assist patients from time to time. The facility's mission is the provision of comprehensive rehabilitation service to help patients regain their independence so that they can return to the daily activities and people who bring them joy. The facility has successfully restored the well-being of several patients.
