430 WK3 DQ2 100-150 WORDS

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are opening the doors to vulnerabilities and threats for organizations. How would you manage the growth of these concepts? Discuss the repercussions BYOD and IoT policies can have on employee wellness.

REPLIES 75-100 WORDS

A Olatunbosun Osifowode

Hello Class,

These are both great concepts for most users/employees. This way they can use what is familiar to them. But, to manage this growth the IT department will have to be in top of every device on site. They will have to know, and have it logged along with making sure information is possibly encrypted so that it cannot be accessed by a non-authorized person once the device is off site, out from under the umbrella, of the network protocols put in place on site.

B Yamil Santana

Class,

Having BYOD and IOT has its ups and downs depending on the type of company you are. Companies like twitter, facebook and such benefit from these things because they can use their devices and things to benefit their company. But with other companies BYOD can be a hinderance meaning lack of focus from employees that are glued to their phones or constantly distracted by them. Managing a potential future with consistent IOT ad BYOD could be tough when trying to protect your network from attacks using these devices. I would see having separate networks not connected to the main server as a way to keep BYOD attacks down.

Yamil,

Great job on the DQ question! Like you mentioned BYOD or IoT can have its ups and downs. I never thought about the upside it would bring to certain companies like Facebook, Instagram and other social media-based companies. However, like you mentioned to other companies especially military or government-based companies it could be a distraction or a vulnerability to important secrets and information. I believe it

is truly based on the environment and depending on that environment the company can way their risk! Keep up the good work!
