In 2006, Nobel Laureate and former US Vice President Al Gore got the world talking about climate change with the Academy Award-winning film An Inconvenient Truth. It was just the beginning of a climate revolution. The groundbreaking film prompted millions to start asking questions about the climate crisis and doing something about it, thereby helping shape the modern climate movement we know today. Today, young activists are standing up for their future, challenging world leaders to take action.

Also increasing in popularity is the concept of environmental commodity trading. Discuss this concept in relation to climate change. Refer to the articles below for more information on this concept:

Assignment 2:

For this assignment, you will read a case entitled Goedehoop: When Social Issues Become Strategic.

Then you will answer the following questions about the company’s responsibility regarding a social issue:

1. Should a business get involved in a social issue such as HIV/AIDS in its workforce?

2. How would you measure cost-benefit analysis (CBA) of the HIV/AIDS (or any other social issue) intervention?

3. What would a first-world company planning to enter an emerging market need to take cognizance of in terms of managing foreign staff? Would it be cost effective?

Your answer to each question should be about one paragraph long (3-4 sentences).
