Revital Yagudayev Problem Statement

Children living in impoverished areas are denied equal access to quality education.

My Global Problem is concerned with children living in impoverished areas. To be

specific my problem mainly is concerned with that they are deeply affected by poverty

which has denied equal and adequate access to quality education worldwide. There are

lower levels of education mobility within most countries across the world. Latin America,

Africa, Asia, the USA, the eastern bloc, and western Europe are among the parts where

children have no access to quality education in some countries (Leone, 2019). Since some

families have low-income levels, they are unable to provide quality education to their

children.To determine if an individual or family is in poverty status, their income and

poverty threshold are analyzed. When the total annual income is lesser than the poverty

approach, then the individual or family are considered to be in poverty (Edwards &

Pacas, 2016). Children who live in poverty suffer from long term effects and severe

downsides such as poor-quality living, becoming homeless, having not enough food or

even the ability to find some, neighborhoods don't feel safe, unresourced colleges or

schools which then result in academic failures. They also suffer developmentally, go

through a lot of emotional problems, and present or future issues in the health

department. (American Psychological Association, 2021).

This problem is a global challenge because there are a lot of countries that don't

have the same access and resources like others. It is unfair and frankly irresponsible to

keep countries uneducated. It will only result in more global problems. The lack of proper

education is unfair and teachers need to educate themselves on cultural diversity to help

these students. The specific problem is that teachers need to expand their knowledge on

cultural diversity resulting in student success. Children should not be affected by this and

will only prolong the problem instead of improving it in the long run.This is an issue

because students who live in poverty tend to not have access to advanced courses, their

creativity is not valued, and there is a lack of encouragement regarding higher education

(Capra, 2009).It is important to investigate this problem because children all around the

world who suffer from poverty have the right to an equal education. It is unfair that

education is considered a luxury, when it truly is a necessity.
