Methods
Participants
Participants were fellow graduate students in psychology at Southern New Hampshire University who volunteered to take part in the study and its accompanying questionnaire. The participants were allowed to opt out of taking part in the study at any time. The population of all presently registered online psychology graduate students was used to recruit individuals for the sample that would be used in this study. These participants are all currently registered in graduate agendas at SNHU through the online studies program. In addition, it is important to mention that the demographics of the sample that was used for this research were not collected because doing so would not be relevant to the hypothesis that was tested in this investigation.
Materials
The present investigation made use of an online questionnaire as its primary source of data collection. Qualtrics were used throughout the process, from design through administration of the questionnaire. To complete this study, SNHU, and its students made use of an internet platform called Qualtrics. When participants decide to take part in the study, they will have access to the platform that makes it simple for them to fill out the questionnaire.
Procedures
As soon as the questionnaire was ready, an online link to the questionnaire was placed in the Psychology Scholar Lounge at SNHU. This was done to ensure that the members would have access to the questionnaire and would have the ability to finish it if they so desired. The participants were asked to react to a few questions about a variety of topics, including the amount of time they spend on social media daily and questions regarding their general level of contentment with how they seem physically. The answers to these questions will serve as the primary focus of the investigation, and the corresponding variables will be subjected to additional analysis to ascertain whether or not the hypothesis given for this study can be validated.
Introductory message
I would like to introduce myself; my name is………, and I am now a graduate student at “Southern New Hampshire University”. In the course PSY520: “Research Methods in Psychology II”, I will only be distributing the following questionnaire to other students at Southern New Hampshire University. Its purpose is to collect information and be used in my final project, and it will only be given to SNHU students. The main objective of this survey is to examine whether or not there is a correlation between the quantity of time an individual spends on social media daily and the way they feel about their body image. To provide more clarification, concerning the use of social media, we will be taking into consideration the use of social media platforms such as “Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and Twitter”, to mention a few. Your time spent using various social media channels, as well as your perception of your body, will be inquired about in this questionnaire, and you will be expected to provide comments that are both personal and truthful.
Please take the time to prudently read each question contained within this survey, the completion of which must not take more than 12 minutes of your time in total. Please respond to each question by providing an honest answer to the best of your ability. Please be aware that your responses will be provided in an anonymous form and that they will under no circumstances be traced back to you personally. Every one of your responses will be held in strict sureness. Nobody will be able to know either you or the responses you deliver, and nobody will be capable to tell whether or not you took share in the research plan. The completion of this questionnaire is entirely voluntary on your part, and if you ever find yourself in a position where you feel uneasy, you are free to withdraw from the survey at any time. You are under no obligation to respond to any particular inquiry that solicits a response from you if you do not wish to do so for any reason.
As a college or university student, you are part of a community whose mission is to disseminate information and educate the public. The best way to get complete and objective information on a wide range of important issues is to do research. When you leave SNHU, you'll be well-prepared to make informed decisions about the research participation of yourself and your loved ones in a variety of settings. Hence, we hope that you will take full advantage of the chance to engage in university-based research, which will allow you to both contribute to the body of existing knowledge and develop a firm grasp of the research process.
Thank you for your corporation
