The nurse leaders have a responsibility in making senior-level decision making which includes influencing nursing practice methodology and perception (Lott, 2016).
Nurse administrators should apply the provision of undertaking research and policy development. The administrators should advocate for enough resources for research and offer good leadership that promotes innovation and creativity. Nurse administrators can influence senior decisions in an organization that include hiring qualified staff and policy development (Schaeffer & Haebler, 2019). The nurse leaders should be on the forefront fighting for maintaining professional standards by empowering nurses through knowledge development. Nurse administrators are also mandated to guide the nurses and other staff in developing a an excellent healthcare environment. It is also the role of nurse leaders to upgrade the employment conditions to ensure quality care is provided..
The provision of nurses using their authority to make decisions that promotes health and optimal care is appropriate for a nurse leader. Research indicates that nurse leaders are associated with patient mortality based on their decisions and their support to nursing staff. Nurse administrators should offer their full support to the organization nursing staff and develop a good relationship. The leaders also need to use their authority to make decisions that interest patients to reduce the mortality rate.
