Running Head: SKILLS 1
SKILLS 2
Working as a pre-K teacher has been a long-nurtured dream of mine. My skills on the same have been built over the years, due to the many instances of having the opportunity working with young girls and boys. Joining school was not difficult at all since everything based on skill enhancement for the career was smooth. Again, the school offered high-quality teaching practices. Over the years, therefore, I have thrived in any schools that I have worked in.
One of my most outstanding skills is the ability to provide well-planned activities that boost the development of language and motor skills for children. My years of handling children have helped me identify the different factors in children that make them different, and that affects their growth in the above-mentioned sectors. I have been able to handle different children, handle their needs differently and plan activities based on what they do best, and how they learn.
Secondly, I believe I have exemplary skills in communication. First of all, handling children requires a lot of patience and balance between firm and gentle. Children are sensitive and are very keen to note how people talk to them. I have been able to master the ability to communicate with the children and to help them understand their environments; factors that help in their growth process. Secondly, handling the children will require that I handle their parents. Sometimes, the parents may come to me with the feeling that their children are not doing as well they feel they should. I have been able to master proper communication with the distressed parents. I have been able to understand their concerns and to work on those that are within my ability or, to help them understand why things may not turn out as they want. Lastly, I need to communicate with my colleagues at work, as well as my employers. I have learned to air my concerns with respect, and to follow the rules set for me. I have also learned to deal with disagreements in a sober manner at the workplace, and to calm conflicts caused within my area of work.
Lastly, I have been able to maintain a lesson plan book. For the various schools I have taught in, the children I meet are different. A lesson plan book has helped me allocate different activities based on the strengths of each child. In cases where the children may be lagging behind in a certain area, the lesson plan book has helped me identify ways to rectify, r to ensure that all children are comfortable A lesson plan book has also helped me assess my own performance, since I am able to assess how frequently I go back to an activity before the children have learnt how to handle it well.
So far, I am impressed with my progress in my career. I am more than excited to help parents through the process of growth of their children.
