Précis Assignment (1): Please submit two précis documents into the dropbox. (I have not done this. If you can provide this as soon as possible would be awesome!) Use the FIU Library academic journal database to find two articles with ethics content: Public Administrative Review and Public Integrity.

This assignment is meant for you to build support for the final paper in this class. A precise is used for research. A précis is a way of summarizing in which the tone, proportions, and meaning of the original text is maintained. A précis summarizes a reading that you have completed and can be printed and stuffed inside of a book or placed near an academic journal article you might need to refer to for a future assignment.

The length of a précis can vary greatly; for this course, your typed précis should be 100-200 words. There are various steps to take when you write an effective précis. For this course, I request that you follow these instructions:

Read the article or book multiple times.

At the top, include the author, title of the reading and other relevant source information for a bibliography.

Take notes on the key points of the reading and paraphrase or directly quote the author’s key sentences. If you are directly quoting the author, you should use quotation marks with page number citations. Be as concise as possible, but still include all important points you might need for the future.
