· Students will enter a “push-up” position and perform various activities including pointing to a friend, lifting one leg, and clapping

· Students will sit and perform a modified hurdlers stretch

20 min Lesson Focus Activity

· Freeze position - in anticipation of changing directions, students will freeze when they hear the teacher blow the whistle, bounce the basketball, or shout a command

· Accelerating out of the “freeze” position – also on command or sound

· Students work across the gym line to line as group and individually on command.

Teaching points – dropping body weight; planting outside foot; controlling body speed

10 min Game Activity

Toe to Toe - move about the floor using various forms of locomotion; at the blow of whistle find a partner and stand toe to toe with that person (only one foot needs to contact the partner).

Whistle Mixer - move about the floor using various forms of locomotion; at the blow of whistle they must find and form groups of the number of whistle blasts and stand toe to toe in their groups. Any person who does not find a group sits down in the “time-out station” in the center of the floor. Game will restart at teacher’s discretion.
