Hello all!

I would not want to pursue a career as an auditor for many reasons, but the two top ones are the amount of information you have to stay on top of every year to be current requires a devotion to the job I am not willing to give at this point in my life, and I am not interested in a position that involves people lying to me about why they are doing things they aren't supposed to be doing or being put in a position to catch someone doing something they may not have even been aware of that could cost them their livelihood. Knowing how bad corporate training programs are, and how little time people have for professional development at work with most companies since every day is a crunch day means that a lot of stuff gets missed, and when that happens and is found out, they always want to blame someone else. Being in that position and costing someone their paycheck is not something I would feel morally comfortable with knowing what I know about corporate America.

If I were working as an auditor in IT, my best practices would be to focus on time management because it is too easy to go down a rabbit hole for a simple issue, identify single points of failure first and foremost because they should not exist anywhere, and ensure there is a proper feedback process in place for all the people involved, so that my findings cannot be weaponized against the weakest people in the organization.

Pursuing a career as an IT audit would be an absolute dream, with the increasing dependency on information technology, there is a constant need for regulations and compliance; the position of IT audit is growing with jobs opening up. However, challenges exist; privacy and security are some of the critical challenges in addition to constant changes in infrastructure as technology changes. Although duties vary considerably with different industries, some of the standard best practices when conducting an audit include; auditors need to pay attention to technology transformations. It is also a best practice to plan for security, keeping the value provided by IT audit functions.

Dear Class and Professor,

 

Me personally would not want to be an IT auditor because the job description just doesn’t fit my personality I don’t agree with the fact that you have to keep up with so many people trying to see what they are doing right and wrong and try to catch them in lies and wrong actions. After looking at the job description I understand this job takes a lot of your time not just the normal business hours and that alone is a No for me. I’m very family oriented and I don’t want a job that needs me hands on all the time. I am more of a hands-on employee and person overall; I don’t want to just analyze and assess a company and discuss how to make things better. If I was an IT auditor would be first to have a schedule on the specific dates that auditing is taking place, I would also be big on time management so that I can correctly work without being rushed or not completing work, and lastly plan ahead by planning ahead I am giving myself a fair chance of getting a head start on what needs to be done so when it is time to do it I have a head start and my thoughts are processed on the route I am taking to get the job complete.
