Discuss the consequences of this differential treatment. Is relational aggression a serious from of aggressive behavior, or is it merely a concept that pathologizes the normal behavior of females? Explain. In your response, please include research to support your opinion. Responses Derick Males are more delinquent as compared to females, reason being males are more irrational and aggressive. Whereas female are less aggressive. Moreover, males are more anti-social than females. In addition, the multiple risks that boys are exposed to contribute to more delinquency. Academic failure, rebelliousness, and peer delinquency make males more delinquent. For females, family conflicts mainly push them to delinquency. Justice systems discriminate girls. Programs and policies in place only favor males. Moreover, there exist criminal charges against females only, and young girls are subject to prostitution criminal charge. A charge meant only for females. Girls are usually detaining disproportionately by juvenile system for status offense. As paternalistic side guide the judges. As a result, there is an increase in number of delinquent females. Moreover, the system does not cater for female needs during rehabilitation making a good number of them to engage in crimes again upon release. Relational aggression is indeed a serious aggressive behavior that women exhibit. It is mainly used for personal gains or revenge by females having challenges in satisfying and maintaining prosaically relationships. Moreover, exhibiting relational aggression are antisocial. Tyheesha White posted Nov 29, 2020 4:01 PM There will always be differences between male and female delinquents. The main reason is males and females have hormonal differences which is the base of understanding why the male behaves one way and the female, another. Learned values, culture, and socialization are all factors which contribute to the differences in male and female delinquency (Welsh, 2016). Female behavior is much more scrutinized because girls are taught to act a certain way, particularly like a young lady. Males are often much more aggressive because they have been taught to be “tough”. They often seek validation of their masculinity from their male counterparts. They do not show sensitivity, as it would deem them “un” masculine. Girls are discriminated against in the juvenile justice system by way of receiving harsher punishment for running away, truancy, and simple assault (Cohen, 2015). The major problem with this is that these young women are being detained and not receiving the help required to get them on track. Most of the crimes they commit or reasons of them running away are due to something that more than likely happened to them in their home such as abuse, neglect, or something else. In my opinion, relational aggression can be serious surrounding the circumstances. For instance, a young girl being sexually abused at home and losing her innocence by someone she loved and trusted can deeply damage how the child relates to any and everyone and can alter their feelings regarding relationships with anyone altogether.
