Assignment Question(s):(Marks 5)
1) Describe the nature of operations management in the following organizations. In doing this, first describe the operation process of the production system. Second, identify operations decisions. (Marks 3) (word count maximum:500)
• A paper manufacturing
• An internal design office

Operational strategies refer to the methods companies use to reach their goals. By developing operational strategies, the company is able to study and implement effective and efficient systems for the use of resources, employees and the business process. Service-oriented companies also use basic operational strategies to link long- and short-term corporate decisions and create an effective management team. The following are the four basic categories of operations management: (1) as a system, (2) as an organisational function, (3) as a transformation or transformation process, and (4) ) as a way to create utilities.
1/ Paper is made using the raw material from trees, which is called wood pulp. There are also high-quality papers that can be made manually using cotton, linen or hemp fibres, and the paper-making process takes place using two stages: _ The stage of introducing the pulp into the paper-making machine: The paper is made using this machine through the following steps: Inserting the papers into a machine for processing paper industry. Use a vacuum machine to reduce the moisture content of the leaves. Drying using a drum dryer, which passes the papers through a chain of stainless steel drums at a temperature of 93 Celsius to ensure that the paper contains only about 4-5% of moisture. The collected water is used to prepare the thick stock. As we can see from the previous scenario, raw materials are converted into finished goods and thus operations management is essentially a diversion or transformation process. Process decisions like quality of raw materials, cost, temperature, grade of paper, logistics, etc. are taken here since they are involved in the day-to-day operations when paper is made.
2/ A design office within the company seeks to design and plan the spaces and interior spaces that meet the people's physical and social needs. It also plays the main and essential role in maintaining the integrity of the building. There is no safety for a building that is not designed internally based on the basic building standards. The interior design aspects consist of technical aspects, and planning aspects. This is in addition to his interest in the technical and aesthetic aspects as well. We may classify the interior design office as an organisational function. They take the input, process the data, and work according to specifications.
Transfer to the assembly line can affect the financial management as it is concerned with collecting the funds required for all business operations and determining how and where these funds are spent and if this process will affect the company's budget or not.
As for the human resources department to operate the assembly line process, its impact is related to the process of finding the right people for a particular role. Both new and existing employees will need training, what are the wages of each job, what are the other compensations that employees get on the assembly line, etc.
She will have a concern in terms of balancing and managing how money moves in and out of the business and if too much money flows in at a given time, the company is at risk of bankruptcy.
The marketing function will have concerns regarding product pricing, promotion, nature of the product and distribution channels of the product and is considered by many as the heart of the business as the marketing department tends to have the most direct contact with customers
Transferring to the production line is very challenging because it requires different activities and tasks to create a new system, change system maintenance and acquire hardware.
The textile manufacturing process consists of 4 different stages.
1. Spinning
2. Fabric
3. Dyeing, printing and finishing
4. Garment industry
Spinning: It is the first stage of the textile manufacturing process, which is the procedure of transforming fibre materials into yarns.
Weaving: It is considered an important piece. The yarn is sent from the spinning section to be doubled and rolled.
Dyeing, Printing and Finishing: Provides coolness to the fabric and gives a good look. Finishing is the next stage of textile manufacturing after dyeing and printing.
Garment Manufacturing: Garment manufacturing is the final stage of textile manufacturing, in the process the semi-finished fabric is converted into finished fabric.
