Crypto Security Architecture Exercise
“Steganography is the technique of hiding secret data within an ordinary, non-secret, file or message in order to avoid detection; the secret data is then extracted at its destination” (Rouse. M, 2018). This statement tells what steganography technique is i.e. to hide a secret data. And the secret data is hiding in an ordinary file or message so that no one can detect that as secret information. Since the data is hiding in an ordinary file or message, encrypting that data will help more security to that data.
“Steganography can be used to conceal almost any type of digital content, including text, image, video or audio content; the data to be hidden can be hidden inside almost any other type of digital content” (Rouse. M, 2018). As statement says how steganography can be used to conceal digital data like image video/audio or any digital content, it can be understood that this steganography can be used any digital applications. And as we know it can be used for any digital applications it is important to understand ways to implement this steganography.
“In practice, there are basically three types of steganographic protocols used Pure Steganography, Secret Key Steganography and Public Key Steganography.” (Abdullah. S. H, 2008). As per statement we can understand there are three types of steganographic protocols used in applications. And from the names itself we can understand the difference between them. Secret Key and Public Key Steganography’s, from the name it is easier to understand that these two Steganography’s used encryption algorithm with Steganography. For Secret Key Steganography, the exchange of secret key required to decrypt the Steganography data, same with Public Key Steganography, needs a public key Steganography to decrypt. Pure Steganography is straight Steganography without any encryption technique added.
