The FFCRC are developing a series of roadmaps, to add definition and specificity to the FFCRC’s objectives across its main research areas.

They provide a detailed plan for 5-years, including implementation.

The roadmaps are intended to:

- Define a destination

- Identify knowledge gaps that must be closed in order to get there

- Find a pathway to obtaining that knowledge

- Assign resources to conduct the research

7

8

Internal. To clarify our purpose / intended outcomes, and deploy our resources optimally and coherently.

5

Turning a complicated problem into a sequence of steps through time with milestones and a means of measuring success.

10

External. To communicate our purpose, and engage with external partners who complement our objectives.

To define how our research can be utilized by industry.

Some contents of the roadmap: - Broad industry needs, end-goals - Specific objectives of this working group - Discrete research questions - Discrete research projects (current and future) - Resources – people, expertise, equipment, data - Potential research partners – international and local - Research plan – schedule - Immediate next steps

Discussion

Write a discussion draft

Review meeting

Final draft

Implementation NOTE: It is not expected that the content will be novel. Most likely we already know what the roadmap will say, but it is valuable to document it with broad agreement.

It is useful to create visual representations for the roadmap, showing the “big picture”.

For example:

…from ENA’s Gas Vision 2050.
