The  VIA Survey of Character Strengths(new tab)  is a free self-assessment that takes less than 15 minutes and provides a wealth of information to help you understand your best qualities. VIA Reports provide personalized, in-depth analysis of your free results, including actionable tips to apply your strengths to find greater well-being.

Complete the assessment and then save your results for use in completing the written report for this assignment. You may also refer to these two charts, provided by VIA, as you discern and interpret your own strengths report:

Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:

· Explain the importance of various character traits as the foundation for leading.

· Analyze the role of leader self-awareness for relationship-building and authentic leadership.

Instructions

1. Review Chapter 4 in your text Discovering Leadership: Designing Your Success , and the journal article: Developing Leadership Character.

2. Compose a 600-word reflective paper reporting on your assessment results, as follows:

a. Begin your paper with a section that addresses the importance of character in the role of a leader.

b. Briefly identify and discuss your top three character strengths as noted in your VIA report. Do you agree or disagree with these results? Why or why not? Be specific.

c. Briefly identify and discuss one of the lesser strengths from your VIA report. Do you agree or disagree with this result? Why or why not?

d. Conclude your report by discussing how the results of your VIA report may be useful to you in developing your own leader character. Provide at least one example of an action you expect to take in light of your learning this week.

3. In addition to any assigned course materials, you must provide at least three additional sources to inform your work.

4. Your paper must be in APA 7th format and include a title page and reference page. Also, include an introduction and conclusion in your paper.
