In the past summer, me and my team were participated in a finance competition held by a well-known Chinese tech firm Huawei and achieved considerable results, but the process of achieving this result has not been smooth sailing. Compared to other teams, our team doesn’t have any accounting students. When we first tried to challenge the field that we were not good at, due to the lack of experience and the gap in strength, our chances of passing the preliminary round were very slim. Unlike the classroom, what we are facing this time is a real-world case. In addition to accounting-related knowledge, it also involves many factors such as politics, economy, and marketing between China and other countries. Every day we spend a lot of time on doing researches, group meeting, and brainstorming ideas because we know that under unsatisfactory congenital conditions, we can only redouble our efforts to bridge the gap between us and others. When we are unable to self-criticize our own opinions, our team members will criticize and challenge each other until we can't pick out the mistakes. We want to turn stress into motivation, and persistence is the antidote to stress. Through our continuous efforts and continuous self-improvement between the team members, we defeated all the strong teams from UC Berkeley, Yale, and UCLA, and won the first place in the US division and successfully advanced to the global finals. Yes, I know there is a wall on the way to success, but I also know that it’s only high enough to stop those who are unable to persist.

Although I am a senior majoring in business administration, my primary goal, desire, and objective are to feel the fulfillment of pursuing a master`s degree in computer science. The ultimate reason why I want to pursue a master's degree in computer science because I am passionate about programming especially on how it can be manipulated to make numerous technological advancements which in return would ease various engagements in life and allow simplicity in business. My fascination and interest in computer science developed when I enrolled for my business operations class where I was required to generate sensitivity analysis reports using excel spreadsheets. During this period, I receive insights on how I could better allocate limited resources.

The thrill towards computer science was even propelled after learning that finance models would be used cooperatively with effective programming tools to save on time, give more accurate results thus improving efficiency in the workplace. These insights were offered to me by my manager when I was working as a risk management intern at China construction bank after I found that my colleagues used computer programming to make finance models in the field of quantitative finance. Accuracy in the finance arena is a fundamental concept as it helps to alienate irregularities, especially in the need affirming trust with customers regarding money-related transactions.

I believe the significance of education and learning is reflected here to the fullest. Explore the future in confusion and confirm the direction in personal learning. Studying computer science is my most certain goal so far, and it is also what I want to do most.
