Instructions for Journal Entry 1

Read the assigned journal prompts and chose one. Write a one-page journal entry, observing the appropriate spelling, mechanics, and punctuation. Double-space your entry and use one of the assigned fonts and fonts sizes as indicated in the Style/Rules Guidelines module.

1.  Consider the last writing assignment you completed. Identify the assignment and indicate what process, if any, you used to complete the assignment? Did your process follow the Writing Process steps discussed in the lecture handout or was your process different? Did you find it difficult to complete the assignment? Why or why not?

2.  Use the writing process steps discussed in the lecture handout to discuss why learning to write effectively is or is not important to your future career choice. Identify your career aspirations and tell how writing is or is not important in your choice.

Writing Workshop Journal #2:

Learning how to identify subjects and predicates will help you comprehend sentences and avoid sentence  fragments  and  run-ons  in your writing. Knowing how to identify subjects and predicates will also allow you to manipulate sentences for greater sentence variety.

· Read the following topics for your Writing Workshop Journal #2 writing assignment.

· Choose one (1)

· Review the Writing Process notes as you prepare to write your response

· Write a one page response on one of the topics below. (Remember to double space your response and use Times New Roman, Ariel, or Tahoma fonts.)

· Bold-face the SUBJECT in each sentence of your response

· Underline the PREDICATE in each sentence of your response.

· Submit your journal entry

1.   Social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, or SnapChat, has become an important addition to our society. Do you think this type of communication hurts or helps our communication skills?

 2.   Communication is an important element in most relationships. Since we have access to all types of technology, do you think written communication, such as letters or essays, is still important in today’s society?
