Adobe is a company I would consider to be a household name, or at least people have used it whether they realized it or not. The public would most likely assume they will be a safe company to use. Also, I would not be surprised if people did not think that a program used to simply read a document would be dangerous.
Adobe has multiple programs and uses multiple third-party vendors which could pose a risk to your system. One of the more recent security concerns comes with a version of Reader which adds an extension for Chrome which allows Adobe Acrobat to “Read and change all of your data on the website you visit. Manage your downloads. Communicate with cooperating native applications” (Brinkman, 2017).
So far, my feelings are not positive for the Adobe company. I would say the glimmer of hope I have come from the reports about the company consistently pushing for updates and patches. One resource stated Adobe provides dozens of patches a month (Leonhard, 2017). Adobe is housed in California and provides state-of-the-art programs for professionals around the world. Due to this, I believe their security is also state-of-the-art and taken seriously.
