The subject covers various pricing theories, frameworks and concepts for managerial pricing decisions.

Each week consists of:

1.5 hours workshop (Every week) for interactive discussions, quantitative exercise, case discussion and presentation

1.5 hours lecture (See time table) – No lecture for the week of case report due and discussion

Lectures (face-to-face and/or online)

Some weeks’ lectures will be replaced with pre-works assigned. No lecture in the weeks when the case study is discussed

Face-to-face lectures will discuss various topics and lecture notes will be posted if necessary

Actual lecture might be different from lecture notes

Case report due in the corresponding week

Some students will be asked to present re the case, e.g., quick summary, answers to discussion questions.

Case study (30% marks)

Everyone should read the case for the class discussion

Some students are assigned to write a report for the case. Each student will do two (2) case reports to get case report marks (30%, i.e., 15% each)

Case report has a page limit of five (5) pages excluding appendices

Post-works (portfolio, 70%)

Ten (10) notes from any face-to-face class (10 x 5%@)

Due 5 pm, Monday following each class combining lecture and workshop

The best 10 from 12 possible submissions (only for those that you attend)

Summary of face-to-face class and class activities, NOT reflection

Format: Brief the boss, coach a colleague, note to self, 3-slide talk, 3-minute elevator chat

Length: half to one page at most

Executive summary (20%)

Due 5 pm, Monday 21 Oct, 2019

Synthesize the 10 notes from classes to reflect how and how much you have achieved each of the subject learning objectives

SLO1: Analyse pricing theories, frameworks and concepts to different managerial decision contexts

SLO2: Evaluate the different analytical perspective of pricing decisions

SLO3: Develop a pricing strategy based on a prudent analysis and evaluation process

Length: limited to 3 single-spaced pages
