Dear Student, Thank you for submitting work for Lesson 5 in Practical English. We were unable to grade your work for the reason(s) marked below. Please note that your work being returned gives you the opportunity to ensure all instructions were followed, as well as earn the best grade possible for your work. A returned exam does not count against your grade. Once you have made the needed revisions, please submit your work again for review.
☐ Your composition for Question 1 must be three to five paragraphs long. It should include an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. Your composition should not be one long paragraph.
☐ The exam you submitted was incomplete. Your composition and cover letter must be submitted at the same time, preferably in the same document, for it to be graded.
☐ Composition was missing.
☐ Cover Letter was missing.
☐ For Question 1, you must select one of the topics listed in the exam instructions, and fully develop that topic.
☐ For the topic “Describe a single memorable day in your life” you must focus your writing on
describing one day and why it was memorable. You should not write about a longer time frame. For example, instead of writing about why owning a pet is memorable, focus only on the day you brought your new pet home.
☐ For the topic “Explain why a certain sport is your favorite” you must focus only on what makes
the sport your favorite. You should not include general information, rules, or history of the sport without including why the items make the sport your favorite.
☐ For the topic “Explain why a certain sport is your favorite” you must select an activity that
involves physical exertion and skill. Activities such as reading, crafting, or gardening, etc. can’t be used for this topic.
☐ Your response to Question 2 is not a cover letter. We cannot grade another type of letter for this assignment. Please review your study material for more information on Cover Letters and Resumes.
X The work, or file, you submitted was unacceptable for another reason: Your “favorite sport” must fit the definition of a sport. In addition, your composition must not include any information from any outside source. (Please see comments below for an explanation.)
Reminders:
The instructions for this exam are found in Section 5.3-Writing Lesson Examination. There is also
a brief video about the exam included in this section.
No research or information found on web sites should be used for this exam; all of the work must
be your own.
If you have any questions about the assignment, please reach out to the school by phone, email,
or chat for assistance. We are available Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Eastern
Time.
Best of luck on the assignment!

Please note that I am returning your exam ungraded, because your composition doesn’t fit
the topic. A sport is an activity that involves both physical exertion and an element of
competition. Although your description of mountain biking includes a physical aspect, it
doesn’t include a competitive component.
To make your composition and, thereby, your exam eligible for grading, first thing you
need to revise it so that it pertains to mountain biking in terms of a physical and
competitive activity.
The second thing you need to do to make your exam eligible for grading is to delete any
information that you included in your composition that came from any outside source, one
of which you cite in the third paragraph (Impellizzeri, & Marcora, 2007). This subject requires
no research; it requires only your own explanation—your own opinion—about why
mountain biking is your favorite sport, so there should be no need to consult or cite any
information from any outside source.
After you revise your composition so that it describes mountain biking as a competitive,
physical sport and explains in your own words, without any help from any outside source,
why it is your favorite sport, please submit it and your cover letter together for grading.
Thank you.

Explain why a certain sport is your favorite
My vision is blurred by sweat trickling into my eyes. My legs are weak, making pedaling
tough. Before speeding down the hill, I take a moment to halt and take a big breath. The rush of
blood coursing through my veins, coupled with the exciting prospect of what lies ahead, forces
my body to prepare and keep going. I accelerate down the slope, just avoiding a couple of large
jagged stones protruding from the trail and trees. Mountain biking is unquestionably my favorite
sport because of its intensity and extreme nature. Mountain biking is also my favorite game since
it is good for the ultimate growth of body, mind, soul, provides a challenge, and gives people a
chance to make a beneficial environmental footprint.
Mountain biking is a terrific method to get both your body and mind in shape. It's a sport
that helps you gain muscle while also improving your muscle fitness. It works practically all of
the body's muscles. Moreover, it is a fantastic way to increase your energy, stay in shape, and,
along with several other research, biking for a minimum of four hours every week can lower the
risk of heart disease by nearly 70%. The ability to exercise outdoors is, perhaps, the most
significant advantage of mountain riding. It enables the mind to grow and open up its concepts.
As for myself, I feel more in tune with things and have a sense of calm. There are no anxieties,
uncertainties, or fears on my mind either.
Mountain biking instills a strong sense of confidence and control, in addition to the
obvious physical and mental benefits. To avoid injury, I either plan ahead of time or think on my
feet when I face the many challenges and barriers on the trails. I have complete control over my
technique, performance, and results while biking. Taking on complex challenges and
successfully overcoming them gives people a sense of confidence and power. You will agree
with me that most students who participate in biking are always at the top of their class. Not that
I am busting, but it is a fact and something evident not only from my point of view but also from
other researchers like (Impellizzeri, & Marcora, 2007), who strongly support biking as one of the
best games in the world.
In conclusion, I want to urge people to join me in biking because of its numerous health
benefits, especially in this pandemic time; people can use this game to make their bodies strong
to concur not only covid but also lifestyle diseases like obesity and heart diseases. Secondly,
biking is also environment-friendly activity because there is no emitting of greenhouse gas which
affects climate. Just join me.
