Chapter 22: Clock

Introduction

Windows 10 has its own built-in clock app named “Alarms & Clock” that provides features like an alarm, clock, timer, and a stopwatch.

The Launch Process

Open the app

To launch the app, open your Windows Start Menu by pressing the Start button. Then type in “alarms” and you should then be able to see “Alarms & Clock” app in the list.

Interface

The interface of the app contains four different tabs (Timer, Alarm, World Clock, Stopwatch) and each one of them serves a different purpose. Additionally, there is a “Settings tab” in the bottom left that manages the app settings.

The settings tab offers a few things such as:

· Let’s you pick an app theme (Dark or Light)

· Has a shortcut for the Notification settings window

· Gives information about this app

· Allows the user to send feedback

The Timer tab

Click on the Timer tab to access the feature. You are now ready to set timers for any duration, as long as your device is on and awake, it alerts you when the countdown reaches zero, even if your computer is “locked”. Adding a new timer is simple, just Click on the “Add new timer” (+) button at the bottom right of the window.

The Alarm tab

Click on the Alarm tab to access the feature. In the Alarm tab the user can set up an alarm that will go off the time he decides, as long as his PC is awake, even if is locked. To add a new alarm, click on the “Add an alarm” button at the bottom of the Alarm tab.

The World Clock

The world Clock feature lets the user view the time for multiple locations around the world. If you want to view a certain location’s time, press the “Add new city” button at the bottom left. Then type the name of the location and choose one, for the chosen location the app will display the time and the time difference with your local time.

The Stopwatch tab

The Stopwatch feature lets the user time something. The stopwatch has five different buttons all serving a different purpose:

· The “Start” button starts the clock

· The “Lap/Splits” button marks a lap or split as the stopwatch runs

· The “Expand” button increases the size of the stopwatch display

· The “Pause” button stops the clock

· The “Reset button clears the clock
