STAT 145 ONLINE Week Eleven Assignment Complete the week 11 assignment by entering your answers onto the accompanying answer sheet (either typed or handwritten). Upload the completed answer sheet to the appropriate dropbox in myCourses by the due date provided on the course calendar. This can be completed as an individual or team assignment. I am not picky about using symbols or subscripts. You may write Ho instead of H0. You may write x-bar instead of ̅. But, you must use the correct symbol or word!

Problem #1 – Supreme Court It’s commonly thought that most adult Americans are knowledgeable about our government. A researcher is trying to convince educators that this is not the case. The researcher believes that, in fact, less than 40% of all adult Americans can name a justice currently serving on the Supreme Court and will conduct a hypothesis test to hopefully prove this!

Begin the appropriate hypothesis test by completing the Population and Method Steps.

A random sample of 1000 adult Americans was taken and only 361 could name a justice currently serving on the Supreme Court.

Now complete the Sample and Results steps.

Problem #2 - Pennies The U.S. Mint specifies that pennies have a mean weight of 2.5 g. A coin collector is concerned that this is not the case, and hopes to persuade the mint, with a hypothesis test, to review their manufacturing process.

Begin the appropriate hypothesis test by completing the Population and Method Steps.

The coin collector has randomly selected 37 recently minted pennies. In this sample, the mean weight was 2.4991 g, with a standard deviation of weight was 0.01648 g.

Now complete the Sample and Results steps.
