debate format
Your TBL group will be assigned as “group for (yes)” or “group against (no).” Students are uniquely assigned to a topic and must be prepared to debate against the opposition.
You must submit your slide deck (presentation) by 9AM on 9/28/2020 on Canvas. We expect students to take full advantage of the “Notes” section to expand their thinking and provide context to their points. All presentations must have the following labeled sections: Opening statement, main points, rebuttal, and closing statement. When appropriate, facts and statements must be cited (AMA reference style, includes in-text citations). Students are to refer to the rubric for further details.
Even groups are to present in the affirmative (for/yes) while odd groups will present against (no). Topics are:
A. We have the better healthcare system, Germany vs Canada. (Germany = even group, Canada = odd group)
B. The cost of prescription drugs in the US is unjustifiable.
C. PBMs are a positive force on the US healthcare system.
D. All states should expand Medicaid coverage.
E. “Medicare-for-all” is good for the US.
F. Mergers between insurance companies and pharmacies (CVS and Aetna) hurt the US healthcare delivery system.
