Writing an abstract
Abstracts are short statements that briefly summarize an article or scholarly document. Abstracts are like the blurbs on the back covers of novels. They entice someone to read further. With an abstract, you have to prove why reading your work is worthwhile.
Format:
a single paragraph
contain approx. 100 words.
Abstract tips:
Use your central thesis statement to open the abstract
Close with your summarizing statement.
The central sentences are best created by summarizing your major theme for each section of the paper.
The end result should be clear and concise, yet give the scope of your paper.
