In “Walker’s Appeal, in Four Articles”, Walker states that colored people suffer from “wretchedness in consequence of slavery”. His solution to this is to write this Appeal in order to inspire rage and spite against white people.

In “A Camp Meeting, 1829”, it states that isolated settlers did not have much social contact when it came to religion and personal lives. These camp meetings allowed all of these types of people to come together and practice religion together.

In “The Religious Instruction of the Negroes”, it implies that imported slaves had morals and religious conditions that were not in “good condition”. The church tried to fix this by giving them the gospel and it proposes plans for securing religious instruction.

In the “Declaration of Sentiments”, it states that women should deserve the same rights as men, but they don’t have them. In this declaration, it called for women to fight, and described its demands.

One problem stated in “A Member of the Ladies Home Missionary Society Visits Five Points”, is that men would come home to their families drunk and would commit acts of domestic violence. In the 5 points, it states that alcohol is wrong and people should stay away from it.

In the Declaration of Sentiments, the main problem would be how women were treated and thought of almost like property for their husband. A solution would be to treat everyone equally like we were created. They should be able to have a say in their life and on their actions. 

The problem in the reading A Member of the Ladies Home Missionary Society Visits Five Points, would be Missionaries think they’re helping people when some of them are just trying to take things away from certain people. The solution could be the Missionary Society could’ve tried to help lower class families out financially and donate food or certain items until the families can get back to where they need. 

The Religious Instruction of the Negroes, the problem would be some masters would instruct their servants and slaves about religion so they were more likely to be friendly toward the master/ instructor for teaching them the Gospel. A way to resolve the problem would have been to let the slaves and servants decide if they wanted to learn about the Gospel so they wouldn’t have to feel like they owed the instructors kindness. 

In Walker’s Appeal, in Four Articles, the main problem would be white people would get away with murder and beating people just because they were white while free black men would get arrested if they couldn’t prove they were free without their papers. The only solution would be make sure all races were given the same punishment if they committed the same crime. 

“A Camp Meeting, 1829” problem would be Francis Trollop was wondering about camps and what happened when you went to one. Which was frightening when the women started to scream and groan for their wrongdoing. The solution might be to change the location from the woods to a more well known area and not make "sinners" confess in front of everyone.

In the Religion and reform era there were people using religion as a way of changing the nation. The Second Great Awakening conducted camp meetings, in which these meeting were held by preachers who were white. Camp meetings were held for worship. Religion was away to keep the nations negative problems down in some cases on a positive note. In the article "A member of the Ladies home Missionary Society Visits a Five Points Family," uses religion to improve the conditions of people, by visiting the poor, clothe the naked, warn sinners and flee the wrath to come. In the Religious instruction of the Negroes connects with the spiritual needs of slaves and free blacks. Religion may have been seen as a contradiction in the eyes of slaves as if there were two different views. Then the appeal from David walker was about slaves rising up from slavery and believed that white Christians were cruel in how they treated blacks so low,more than devils themselves. His appeal to me was expressing how Christianity did not seem like a religion for the blacks and it was more of a manipulation for slaves.

According to Five Points Mission, one major problem with the nation was families who were struck with poverty. One way the Society attempted to solve this problem was offering to adopt the children of the poor families to allow the children to be taken care of and the adults to be able to better support themselves. According to Modern History Sourcebook, another major problem among the nation was the lack of women's rights in America. Women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott formed a movement involving conferences and the Declaration of Sentients in an attempt to demand better/more rights for women. The article titled "A Camp Meeting Heats Up" showed that the churches believed that there was a large amount of moral corruption between man and God. The preachers and churches held camp meetings with fire and screams to allow sinners to "wrestle with the Lord" and be brought back to God. The "Religious Instruction of the Negroes" presents the problem that the relationship between a master and his servant was never fully understood. Religion was introduced into this problem to allow both master and servant to see how they could better respect and understand the relationship between them and to understand that they are both "of the flesh." According to David Walker, one of the nation's biggest problems was the ignorance of our fathers and the wretchedness that this brought about. Christians attempted to teach them of the religion of which God blessed them with and tried to lead them to God.
