Lincoln, J. W. (2003). Managing the aging aircraft problem. AERONAUTICAL SYSTEMS CENTER WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB OH.
Aging aircraft undergo various challenges. Corrosion, for instance, is a major concern for aging aircraft (Lincoln, 2003). Corrosion detection mechanisms, therefore, should be more efficient as the corrosion detection tests normally cost the US government over $800 million annually (Lincoln, 2003).
This article is useful in analyzing aging aircraft and developing suitable mechanisms to facilitate corrosion detection. The overall impact is to enhance aircraft safety.
Pyles, R. (2003). Aging aircraft: USAF workload and material consumption life cycle patterns (No. 1641). Minnesota Historical Society.
The air force is undergoing a process of transition that will affect its structure and age profiles. Freeing up maintenance funds will no longer depend on the rate of retirement for old aircraft (Pyles, 2003). Some aircraft will no longer affect lives because the maintenance facilities and resources are now independent of the old age of aircraft.
This article is also essential for research due to the accuracy with which it addresses the issues of retiring older aircraft. These also relate to the issues of safety and reduction in operating costs for the aircraft. Extensive maintenance efforts can go a long way in enhancing the productivity and safety of the use of the aircraft.

It is important for an airline to optimize aircraft utilization. Accumulation of more flight hours can help airlines to reduce the cost of operation per hour (Senturk, Kavsaoglu, & Nikbay, 2010). Additionally, the airlines need to reduce the maintenance time by developing schedules for both periodic checks when the aircraft is on the ground for whatever reason.
This article comprises of relevant technical data regarding reduction of operating costs for aircraft and conducting accurate and regular checks for safety and efficiency. Using this article in aircraft analysis provides technical skills and crucial statistical data regarding reducing the cost of operations through optimized aircraft utilization.
