Community mobilization
The process of stimulating action within a community itself is the most critical aspect of dealing with the cancer problem at hand. However, as an individual, there must be continued interaction with the different groups and organizations on a participatory approach. An individual should identify the various aspects within the community that encourage and motivate the community people and ensure they have a significant impact on the town is dealing with the approach. There is a need to form strategic groups within the community that would create a more substantial part of the problem solution.
Behavior change
The community challenge that becomes faced in the county involves tailoring the prevailing behavior that already exists. As an individual, the modification and improvement of human behavior in dealing with the problem and ensuring continued interaction. The community should provide broad activities that work to educate and create a significant influence on changing the current individual state and reactions. There is a vast community that would work to establish the impact and deal with the individual and environmental influences towards their behavior. Behavior change is the most fundamental approach towards creating the more significant change required in individuals and dealing with the change in problem.
Activities
To deal with different problems, there is a need to interact with the strategy to change. Additionally, activities incorporated with the strategies above would work in dealing with the problem and creating a significance to the plan and goals of the project of the Vietnamese Immigrants Lung Cancer Control program (VILCC). These activities with the different approaches that would work to establish success in dealing with the broad community problem.
Media campaigns
Creating awareness is one step in dealing with lung cancer pandemic in the community. Health communication in the program becomes backed up by the various media campaign approaches that establish awareness for the broad community. The staff will work with TV channels such as Vietbay, Viettoday, and SBTN to convey the information about the VILCC program that will be held in the gym of Yerba Buena High School, and the main points to convince them why they should go to the health fair for that program. The audiences of these channels are mostly is Vietnamese immigrants, so it would ensure that the involved have a better knowledge of the health facts and importance in treating and improving the situation at hand The announcer for these channels will be Ngoc Ngan Nguyen because he is the most famous and trustworthy celebrity of the Vietnamese community all over the U.S. As a program, this would be the first approach towards the position as its aim is increasing the number of individual awareness and how well they increase their ability to perfect their practice continually.
Health fairs
The health activity would involve the improved educative measure that would establish a better approach towards the community. When participants come to the health fair at YBHS gym, they will be given educational manuals with Vietnamese and English versions about the risks of getting lung cancer, how and where to look for help. The process similarly looks at creating awareness and screening of individuals in identifying the problem at hand within a larger group of individuals (KC, 2016). The interactive event works in line with the community mobilization strategy to put in a clear understanding the impact and influence of the literate aspect to the Vietnamese community and create the importance of the health implications of the situation.
Peer and mentoring program
The activity established to work on the different aspects of behavior change. It involves the creation of different stations that would develop a daily interaction with the various patients and the individuals in the community to ensure they have a better involvement in creating awareness and educating them on the different ways they would overcome the challenges (Jenkinson & Benson, 2017). This is when the community health nurses get to work with the participants. The participants will need to answer some basic questions about their current health status, dieting, behavior, and current lifestyle. These answers will help the community health nurses categorize the participants in different groups such as people at risk of getting lung cancer, people need to get the treatments, and people need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Then the nurses will customize physical activity and nutritious meal plans based on the condition of each participant. These conditions create such aspects within the community and create significant changes required for each individual within the community. The activities are the most interactive as it involves continued interaction, monitoring, and creating significant impact in improving the case that most individuals in the county would experience.
Workshops
As an individual involved in the program, there is a need to establish better interaction with the community. The activity would involve the larger group as a way of creating awareness about the health problem within the community and establishing a health process that works to improve the situation. There will be several workshops for different groups of participants as listed in the peer and mentoring program. For example, the group of people at risk will attend a workshop where there will be 3 community health nurses educate about what they should do to push the risk away. Another workshop which includes 4 nurses and a trainer to educate about nutrition and physical activity that help reduce the health problem of the people who are in the middle of getting the treatment. Then another workshop with 3 nurses and program staff to inform what they need to do to maintain their health after getting better from the treatments. The activity would work significantly with the health communication strategy that aims at developing a better awareness of the problem in the community.
