Writing Style and Formatting
|
0 – 5
I will be looking at grammar, punctuation, and the ability to appropriately cite/reference external sources if used. See syllabus for formatting instructions. 1 point will be removed automatically for not formatting correctly; after 5 grammar/spelling mistakes, I will start deducting points. You may write in either an informal subjective style (using "I", elaborating on your experience or emotions as you research) or in a more formal style, whatever is most comfortable. External sources aren't required, but if they are used, cite them using the format of your choosing consistently throughout.

Identification and Introduction of Individual
|
0 – 3
Identify the individual you have chosen to profile in the midterm - include their name, who they are in relation to you (if it is a family member), what historical time period they lived in (or note that they are still living), and why you chose them for this project.

Identification of Methodological Approach
|
0 - 2
Articulate what type of sociological methodology you would use to continue researching the life and social context of the individual you have chosen. Use the terminology in Conley's chapter or any of the additional resources I have posted on Blackboard.

Identification of Social Factors that Influenced Individual
|
0 - 10
Identify 2-3 social factors that influenced the life of the individual you have decided to profile. Use the concepts we have already discussed this semester so far or look ahead in the syllabus to see if there are social factors we will be discussing (i.e. race, poverty, etc.) that played a role in the individual's life. The point is to use your sociological imagination to connect the individual and the social in the life of the individual you have identified.
